    • Rejoining lineup Sunday
Alvarez (elbow) will start at catcher and bat fifth in Sunday's game against the Pirates.

Advice: Alvarez was held out for Saturday's 5-2 win after he was struck in the left elbow by a fastball in Friday's 14-2 loss in the series opener, but the day off was apparently all the young catcher needed to overcome the soreness he had been experiencing. Since returning from the injured list June 11, Alvarez has slashed .338/.413/.600 with three home runs, 15 RBI and eight runs. Rotowire.com Today, 9:12 am
    • Snell (groin) likely to start Tuesday vs. Blue Jays
Blake Snell (groin) is likely to start Tuesday against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Snell will come off the injured list Tuesday after missing over a month with his groin strain. The southpaw was sensational in his last rehab start with five scoreless innings and nine strikeouts, and while he has struggled in his six starts with the Giants thus far with a 9.64 ERA, the 31-year-old’s pedigree and success in the second halves of season are obviously worth considering. • Takes third loss in quality start
Lugo (11-3) was tagged with the loss against the Rockies on Saturday, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out eight.

Advice: Lugo allowed baserunners in five of his six innings of work but managed to limit the damage to three runs (two earned) as Kansas City's offense struggled to get any momentum going behind him. The right-hander induced 15 swings and misses on the night and has now recorded at least five strikeouts in four consecutive starts. Lugo has also posted quality starts in five straight and hasn't given up more than two runs in each of his last five outings. His 2.21 ERA on the season currently leads the majors, while his 11 wins also have him tied with Chris Sale for the league lead. Rotowire.com Today, 6:41 am

    • Delivers two more runs
Walker went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 7-5 extra-inning win over the Padres.

Advice: Walker provided the game-winning knock with a two-run single in the top of the 10th inning. The scorching hot Walker is 15-for-30 with five home runs over the last seven contests and has knocked in 13 runners over the last six. The surge leaves him with 22 home runs (T-6th in MLB) and 64 RBI (7th). Rotowire.com Today, 5:06 am
    • Christian Walker delivers go-ahead hit vs. Padres
Christian Walker went 2-for-5 with a go-ahead two-run single in the 10th inning on Saturday in the Diamondbacks’ extra-inning victory over the Padres.

Advice: Walker put Arizona ahead in the 10th inning with a two-run single off Padres reliever Wandy Peralta. The 33-year-old veteran first baseman has homered five times since June 2 and is batting an absurd .500 (15-for-30) with five round-trippers and 13 RBI over his last seven contests. Simply put, he’s one of the hottest hitters in baseball at the moment. Rotoworld Today, 3:34 am
    • Seth Lugo allows three runs in loss to Rockies
Seth Lugo was charged with three runs (two earned) over six innings on Saturday in a loss to the Rockies.

Advice: Lugo fell behind early when he surrendered a two-run homer to Rockies emerging star Brenton Doyle in the second inning. He managed to limit the damage to just a run-scoring single by Ryan McMahon in the fifth-inning, but it was enough to saddle him with a loss for just the third time this year. The 34-year-old righty is tied with Braves ace Chris Sale with a major league-leading 11 wins this season to accompany a sparkling 2.21 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 110/29 K/BB ratio across 122 innings (19 starts). There’s some regression looming, but he’s been a revelation this season in his Kansas City debut. He’ll wrap up the first half on Saturday with a road matchup against the Red Sox at Fenway Park. • Let down by bullpen in superb start
Greene pitched seven scoreless innings in a no-decision against Detroit on Saturday. He allowed three hits and issued two walks while striking out seven batters.

Advice: Greene was on his game Saturday, racking up 15 swinging strikes while holding the Tigers without an extra-base hit. He departed with a 2-0 lead but had to settle for a no-decision as a result of the Reds' bullpen allowing five runs in the eighth frame. Though he wasn't able to nab the win, Greene collected his seventh quality start of the season and lowered his ERA to 3.45. The seven punchouts gives him 116 on the campaign, tied for 11th-most in the majors. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:00 pm
    • Trea Turner plates lone run in loss to Braves
Trea Turner went 1-for-4 and drove in the Phillies’ lone run in Saturday night’s loss to the Braves.

Advice: Turner got the Phillies on the board with a run-scoring single off of Spencer Schwellenbach in the third inning that plated Johan Rojas. That would be all of the offense that they could muster in the contest. The 31-year-old shortstop has been terrific when he has been on the field this season, hitting .340/.383/.505 with seven homers, 23 RBI and 11 stolen bases in 50 games. • Abrams belts 14th home run against Cardinals
CJ Abrams went 1-for-3 with a walk, a solo home run and three runs scored against the Cardinals on Saturday.

Advice: Abrams started the scoring with a solo home run in the first inning and the route was on from there as the Nationals cruised to a 14-6 victory. It was his 14th home run of the season. Abrams is hitting .280 with an .856 OPS and 46 RBI on the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:48 pm
