      Jason Foley earned his 12th save of the season in Tuesday’s win over the Rangers.

      Diaz (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

      Advice: Diaz threw 21 pitches during his mound session, and manager Carlos Mendoza said afterward that there is a good chance the 30-year-old reliever begins a rehab assignment in the minors Thursday. It's unclear how many minor-league reps the Mets will give their star closer, but the fact Diaz is already able to begin an assignment likely signals that he will only require a minimum-length stint on the IL.     • Edwin Díaz to start rehab assignment this week
      Edwin Díaz (shoulder) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Thursday.

      Advice: Díaz threw a bullpen session on Tuesday without any issues and the Mets are hoping to have one of their primary closing options back on June 11, when first eligible to return. The electrifying 30-year-old righty hit the injured list back in late May with a right shoulder impingement.       Carlos Estévez threw a perfect ninth with a one-run lead for a save Monday against the Padres.

      Advice: Estevez needed only 10 pitches to quickly finish off the 2-1 victory. He's given up one earned run over his last 6.1 innings, lowering his season ERA to 4.50 through 18 frames.       Helsley struck out two without allowing a hit or a walk in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Sunday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the Phillies.

      Advice: A flyout allowed the initial runner to advance to third base, but Helsley struck out the next two batters to close this game. It was encouraging to see the 29-year-old have a dominant outing after allowing four runs over his previous three appearances. He's earned a save in eight straight outings despite his recent shakiness, and he still has a 2.42 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 27:6 K:BB over 26 innings while converting 19 of 20 save chances this season.       Ryan Helsley closed out the Phillies in the 10th inning on Sunday night, working a scoreless frame to protect a one-run advantage.

      Advice: The 29-year-old right-hander had to do some work, as Bryce Harper advanced to third base on a fly ball to start the inning, but Helsley battled back to strike out Cristian Pache and Nick Castellanos to leave the tying run stranded there.       Schreiber (3-1) allowed three runs on three hits over one-third of an inning, taking the loss Friday versus the Padres.

      Advice: Schreiber got the final out of the seventh inning but put three straight batters on base to begin the eighth. James McArthur relieved him and couldn't stop the Padres' rally in what ended up being a nine-run frame. After looking like one of the Royals' most dominant relievers in April, Schreiber posted a much worse 6.52 ERA and 2.17 WHIP over 9.2 innings in May. He's at a decent 3.00 ERA on the year, but his 1.33 WHIP and 17:7 K:BB over 24 innings are concerning, as he's giving up too many hits and striking out too few batters.       Advice: Protecting a three-run lead in the ninth, Helsley allowed the first two batters to reach. He'd allow a run on a Tyler Stephenson sacrifice fly before ultimately getting Elly De La Cruz to ground out with the tying runs on base. Helsley has now converted 18 straight save chances despite allowing at least one run in his last three appearances.
