    • Extends throwing distance
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Rodriguez (shoulder) has extended his throwing program out to 60 feet, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

Advice: Rodriguez had to pause his throwing program in early April due to discomfort in his left shoulder, but the fact that he's extended his throwing distance is an encouraging sign. He was transferred from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on April 17, which would make the left-hander eligible to return in mid-June. Rotowire.com 27 minutes ago
    • Eduardo Rodriguez (lat) throwing at 60 feet
Diamondbacks’ skipper Torey Lovullo told reporters on Friday that Eduardo Rodriguez is now throwing at a distance of 60 feet.

Advice: He has yet to throw off of a mound, but the fact that he has been playing catch and gradually increasing his distance is at least an encouraging sign. He’s going to require a long and slow build up — and several minor league rehab starts — before he’s ready to make his Diamondbacks’ debut. Don’t expect to see him on a big league mound before the end of June. Rotoworld 30 minutes ago
    • Returns to starting lineup
Soler (shoulder) is serving as the designated hitter and batting in the leadoff spot for Friday's game against the Rockies, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: The Giants reinstated Soler from the 10-day injured list Friday, per Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com. Soler made two rehab appearances with Triple-A Sacramento, and he went 2-for-3 with one RBI in his second outing Thursday. Before landing on the IL, the 32-year-old was slashing .202/.294/.361 with five home runs and eight RBI over 136 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 3:39 pm

    • Kyle Harrison has start pushed back until Saturday
Kyle Harrison will have his start pushed back until Saturday, with Mason Black taking his place on Friday evening against the Rockies.

Advice: Giants’ manager Bob Melvin simply wanted to get Harrison and Jordan Hicks an extra day of rest, which is why he inserted Black into the team’s rotation on Friday night instead of in the spot vacated by the injured Keaton Winn (forearm). They both still get to take on the lowly Rockies, so nothing changes from a fantasy perspective. Rotoworld Today, 3:33 pm
    • Jorge Soler (shoulder) returns to Giants’ lineup
Giants activated OF Jorge Soler from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: The 32-year-old slugger will return to the Giants’ lineup on Friday night against the Rockies, serving as their leadoff man and designated hitter. Before landing on the injured list with a right shoulder strain, Soler had been hitting a disappointing .202/.294/.361 with five long balls and only eight RBI in 34 games. • Keeps raking with homer
Volpe went 2-for-5 with a solo home run during Thursday's 5-0 win over the Twins.

Advice: Volpe extended his hit streak to nine games with a first-inning solo home run off Joe Ryan. During that stretch, Volpe has gone yard three times with 10 total RBI while logging multiple hits in four contests. After an up-and-down rookie campaign, Volpe owns a .273/.348/.432 slash line with six homers and nine stolen bases through 199 plate appearances in 2024. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:01 pm

    • Jorge Soler (shoulder) continues rehab assignment
Jorge Soler (shoulder) will play another minor league rehab contest on Thursday for Triple-A Sacramento.

Advice: Soler went 0-for-4 with a strikeout on Wednesday in his rehab assignment debut. The 32-year-old slugger checked out fine after being hit in the head by a deflection during batting practice earlier this week and should be ready to return to San Francisco’s lineup at some point in the near future. He landed on the injured list earlier this month with a right shoulder strain. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:30 pm

    • Anthony Volpe homers, steals base in victory
Anthony Volpe went 2-for-5 with a leadoff homer and also stole a base on Thursday, leading the Yankees to a 5-0 victory over the Twins.

Advice: Volpe kicked off the contest with a leadoff homer against Twins starter Joe Ryan for his sixth round-tripper of the year. He also picked up his ninth stolen base of the season a couple frames later. The 23-year-old’s power output was a bit diminished at the outset of the year following offseason changes to flatten his swing and implement an all-fields approach, but he’s started to drive the ball a bit more of late with three homers in his last nine contests. • Kicks off rehab assignment
Jones (back) began a rehab assignment at Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday and went 0-for-3 with a strikeout and an RBI.

Advice: Jones received three plate appearances and played five innings in left field in his first game action since he landed on the 10-day injured list in late April with a low-back strain. He shouldn't need too many rehab games before being activated since he hasn't been sidelined for an extended period, but the Rockies haven't provided a firm target date for his return to the big club. The 26-year-old has slashed a disappointing .170/.243/.277 with one home run and two stolen bases over 103 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:16 am
