    • Triston McKenzie works 6 2/3 on Friday
Triston McKenzie struck out five Twins across 6 ⅔ innings on Friday. He walked four, allowed two hits, and one earned run.

Advice: McKenzie’s success this season has been a welcome sight after an injury-riddled 2023. He’s still not quite back to the best version of himself yet, evidenced by the 5:4 strikeout to walk ratio in this start and paltry 5 K-BB% on the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:44 pm
    • Quality in no-decision
McKenzie did not factor into the decision Friday against the Twins, allowing one run on two hits and four walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out five.

Advice: McKenzie posted his second consecutive quality start with the effort Friday. The Cleveland right-hander has tossed six straight starts allowing two or fewer runs while generating five or more strikeouts, producing a 2.12 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 35:19 K:BB in 34 innings over that time. McKenzie is scheduled to face the Mets at home in his next outing. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:39 pm
    • Gavin Williams (elbow) throws 50-pitch bullpen
Gavin Williams (elbow) threw a 50-pitch bullpen session on Wednesday.

Advice: The positive news here is that Williams didn’t experience any discomfort in his first bullpen session since receiving an anti-inflammatory injection earlier this month to address right elbow discomfort. He’s scheduled to throw another bullpen session on Friday before the club determines his next steps. Rotoworld Thursday, 5:18 pm

    • Pitches well in loss
Cease (5-3) took the loss Tuesday against the Rockies, allowing three runs on five hits and a walk while striking out eight over 5.2 innings.

Advice: Cease blanked the Rockies through three before Ryan McMahon took him deep to lead off the fourth. He then ran into some trouble in the sixth, allowing an additional run before being pulled with two outs in the inning and being charged with a third run before the frame concluded. It was just the second time this year Cease has failed to complete six innings and his first since his season debut. The strikeouts continue to pile up, as he's punched out at least eight in four of his last five starts and is second in the majors with 68 over 55 innings. He now owns a 2.45 ERA and 0.78 WHIP and lines up for a tough test on the road against Atlanta next week. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 6:55 am

    • Bounces back with win
Greene (2-2) got the win over the Diamondbacks on Tuesday, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out five over seven innings.

Advice: Greene's only blunder of an inning came in the third after he allowed the first two guys on before they came around to score on a base knock from Blaze Alexander. He otherwise kept Arizona quiet and put together an excellent rebound outing after some mixed results against the Diamondbacks last week. Greene has walked at least a batter in every start this season, but his one free pass was significantly better than the nine he'd given up over his last two starts. The 24-year-old flamethrower now owns a 3.27 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 58:22 K:BB in 52.1 innings. He lines up to complete a two-start week against the Dodgers this weekend. • Generates quality start
Rodon (4-2) picked up the win Tuesday against Minnesota, allowing one run on six hits and no walks during six innings. He struck out six.

Advice: Rodon turned in his fourth quality start of his last five appearances and didn't issue a walk for a third straight start. The lone run charged against him came via a Ryan Jeffers homer in the bottom of the first. After posting a 6.85 ERA in his first season in New York, Rodon has bounced back with a 3.31 ERA through nine starts and is tied for the team lead in wins. Rodon is scheduled to close out a two-start week Sunday against the White Sox -- the team he played his first seven seasons with. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 11:16 pm

    • Hunter Greene goes seven to win in Arizona
Hunter Greene lasted seven innings and allowed two runs in the Reds’ 6-2 defeat of the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

Advice: Greene walked nine in his previous two starts, but he issued just one free pass tonight. He also went without giving up a homer, though Corbin Carroll’s shot to right to lead off the bottom of the first would have been a homer had the game been played in Cincinnati, rather than Arizona. Greene improved to 2-2 with a 3.27 ERA. In spite of his success, the Reds are just 2-7 in his starts. Rotoworld Tuesday, 10:52 pm

    • Dylan Cease fans eight in loss to Rockies
Dylan Cease surrendered three runs in 5 2/3 innings Tuesday in a loss to the Rockies.

Advice: The third run came after he was pulled in the sixth. Cease struck out eight and gave up just four hard-hit balls, although one was a homer. It’s just the second time this season that he’s failed to complete six innings. Ideally, he would have done better than this with the matchup against a terrible offense at Petco Park, but there’s very little to be disappointed about here so far. • Rodón solid through six as Yankees down Twins
Carlos Rodón allowed one earned run over six innings while striking out six and earning the win on Tuesday against the Twins.

Advice: Rodón gave up a leadoff homer to Ryan Jeffers in the first inning but settled in nicely after. Three of the six hits he allowed came in the first inning, as he went on to scatter just three more hits over the following five frames. He lowered his ERA on the season to 3.31 and is now sitting on a 4-2 record through nine starts. He’ll look to pick up his fifth win of the season on Sunday against the White Sox.
