• Making rehab start Sunday
Marsh (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Omaha on Sunday.

Advice: Manager Matt Quatraro hinted Friday toward sending Marsh out on a rehab assignment, and the 25-year-old righty will now officially build back up with Omaha. Starting Sunday would put Marsh in line to return to Kansas City's rotation Friday against the Angels, though it's unclear if the Royals will want to keep him in the minors for multiple starts. • Has good BP session Saturday
Nationals manager Davey Martinez said Gray (elbow) threw about 35 pitches in Saturday's bullpen session, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Gray's session Saturday marked the first time the right-hander has thrown off the mound since landing on the 15-day IL with a right flexor strain, and Martinez noted that the right-hander didn't suffer any setbacks. Gray is set for another bullpen appearance next Tuesday and Wednesday, per Andrew Golden of The Washington Post. Gray will need a few more bullpen sessions before beginning his rehab assignment. • Clarke Schmidt fans seven over five vs. Tigers
Clarke Schmidt allowed three runs while striking out seven over five innings to get a win Saturday over the Tigers.

Advice: Schmidt allowed a leadoff homer to Riley Greene, and then the right-hander allowed a pair of runs in the fourth. In between — and an inning after — the right-hander was solid while giving up four hits and not issuing a walk. The overall result is just so-so, but Schmidt looked better than the line suggests. He’s back on the bump. He faces the Rays on Friday, and Schmidt will take a 3.50 ERA into that matchup. Rotoworld 42 minutes ago

  • Nabs win in relief Friday
Grove (1-1) earned the victory against Atlanta on Friday, retiring all three batters he faced in the 11th inning.

Advice: Grove faced a daunting task in the top of the 11th frame, as he came on with the automatic runner at second base and Ronald Acuna, Ozzie Albies and Austin Riley due up for Atlanta. The right-hander handled the situation with aplomb, retiring all three batters without allowing the ball to leave the infield. Grove then picked up the win when the Dodgers scored in the bottom of the inning. The right-hander has turned things around after his early-season struggles, posting a 2.38 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 17:4 K:BB over his past 11.1 frames and holding the opponent scoreless in seven of his past eight outings. • Notches two steals Friday
Ohtani went 1-for-3 with a run, an RBI, two walks and two stolen bases Friday in a 4-3 extra-innings victory versus Atlanta.

Advice: Ohtani's first theft came in the third inning, and it led to Los Angeles' first run, as Will Smith followed with a two-out RBI single. It looked like Ohtani would be picked off in the eighth frame, but Matt Olson mishandled the throw to first base, allowing the Japanese superstar to make to second base safely. Ohtani later came up with a huge hit in the bottom of the 10th, stroking a one-out single to center field to plate the tying run after Atlanta had scored in the top of the frame. Ohtani continues to put up big numbers for the Dodgers and for his fantasy managers, as he's slashing .336/.405/.612 with seven homers, 20 RBI, 26 runs and seven steals (in seven attempts) through 153 plate appearances. • Josiah Gray (elbow) throws 35-pitch bullpen
Josiah Gray (elbow) threw a 35-pitch bullpen Saturday.

Advice: Nationals manager Dave Martinez told reporters that the bullpen session “went well.” Gray is expected to be cleared to face live hitters soon, and if the progress continues, a rehab assignment shouldn’t be far away. Rotoworld Today, 11:07 am

  • Brewers send down Corbin Martin to Triple-A
Brewers optioned RHP Corbin Martin to Triple-A Nashville.

Advice: Martin didn’t get a chance to pitch for the Brewers, as he was only up for one day. Jared Koenig will head back to Milwaukee in the corresponding transaction. Rotoworld Today, 9:36 am

  • Back down to Triple-A
The Brewers optioned Martin to Triple-A Nashville on Saturday.

Advice: Martin was called up by the Brewers for Friday's game against the Cubs, though he did not play. He'll head back down to Nashville, where he has given up two runs on four hits and four walks while striking out five over 4.1 frames. In a corresponding move, Milwaukee recalled left-hander Jared Koenig from Triple-A Nashville. Rotowire.com Today, 9:32 am

  • Jordan Wicks (forearm) playing long toss Saturday
Jordan Wicks (forearm) is playing long toss before Saturday’s game versus the Brewers.

Advice: Wicks was placed on the injured list Sunday with a forearm strain. The fact he’s throwing is obviously a positive development, but he’ll need to get in a few bullpen sessions — and possibly a rehab start — before he’s ready to roll again. Rotoworld Today, 8:31 am
