    • Not close to returning
Muncy (oblique) is at least a week away from swinging a bat and doesn't have a timeline for return, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Advice: Muncy's recovery from a right oblique strain has been unexpectedly slow, and he doesn't seem particularly close to returning. The 33-year-old hasn't swung a bat in a few weeks and won't be cleared for swings for at least another week, all but ruling out a June return. Recently acquired Cavan Biggio and Enrique Hernandez should handle most of the work at third base until Muncy returns. Rotowire.com Today, 3:45 pm

    • Jesse Winker (knee) heading for MRI exam
Jesse Winker will undergo an MRI exam to determine the extent of his right knee injury.

Advice: Winker sustained the injury on Saturday when he was trying to get back to second base in the opening inning. If he’s forced to miss any substantial time, it could potentially open the door for the highly anticipated arrival of James Wood from Triple-A Rochester. Rotoworld Today, 3:40 pm

    • Not yet doing on-field activity
Trout (knee) has yet to progress to performing on-field activities, per MLB.com.

Advice: Trout has been out of action since being diagnosed with a torn meniscus in his left knee near the end of April. Los Angeles has thus far kept him on the 10-day IL, but he doesn't seem to be anywhere near being activated -- or even beginning a minor-league rehab stint -- given his lack of baseball activity. Trout is expected to return to action at some point this season, but the Angels are unlikely to rush him back given their position in the standings, and his timeframe for rejoining the team remains very hazy. • Joining 26-man roster
The Royals recalled Nola from Triple-A Omaha on Saturday.

Advice: With Salvador Perez battling a knee injury, Nola will join the big-league roster to provide catching depth behind Freddy Fermin. While it's unclear how long Perez will be sidelined, Nola should be in the mix to make his 2024 MLB debut in the coming days. Rotowire.com Today, 3:38 pm

    • Anthony Santander homers twice in victory Saturday
Anthony Santander went 2-for-2 with two homers, four RBI, and a walk to lead the Orioles to a 6-2 win over the Phillies on Saturday.

Advice: Santander drew a walk in the second inning, then led off the fourth with a solo homer off Taijuan Walker to tie the game. He later gave the Orioles some insurance runs in the eighth, taking José Ruiz deep for a two-run blast for his second homer of the day. After hitting nine home runs over the first two months, he’s already up to eight while hitting .298 in a red-hot June. The 29-year-old slugger is slashing .231/.307/.498 with 17 homers and 42 RBI across 277 plate appearances on the season. Rotoworld Today, 3:38 pm

    • Edmundo Sosa goes yard in loss to Orioles
Edmundo Sosa went 1-for-4 with a solo homer against the Orioles on Saturday.

Advice: Sosa led off the second inning with a solo shot off Grayson Rodriguez for the second of two runs the Phillies would score on the day. The 28-year-old infielder is hitting a solid .280/.343/.512 with five homers, 24 runs scored, 19 RBI, and two steals across 138 plate appearances as he fills in for Trea Turner at shortstop. • Grayson Rodriguez goes seven strong in win
Grayson Rodriguez allowed two runs with six strikeouts over seven innings in a win over the Phillies on Saturday.

Advice: Rodriguez got two quick outs to start the game, but gave up a single and a double that would bring a run in to score for the Phillies in the first. Edmundo Sosa then led off the second inning with a solo homer. Rodriguez settled in to retire ten consecutive batters until working around a single in a scoreless fifth inning. He got into trouble in the sixth with runners on second and third with two outs. Rodriguez got Sosa to strike out swinging to escape the jam, his sixth strikeout on the day. He’d toss one more scoreless frame to complete seven innings for the win. The 24-year-old right-hander will take a 3.20 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and a 77/23 K/BB ratio across 70 1/3 innings into a start against the Astros in Houston on Friday. Rotoworld Today, 3:36 pm

    • Goes back to Omaha
Veneziano was optioned to Triple-A Omaha on Saturday.

Advice: Veneziano was called up Thursday but will exit the Royals' active roster without appearing in a game. The left-hander's roster spot will be handed to Austin Nola, who'll provide catching depth for Kansas City in the wake of Salvador Perez's (knee) injury. Rotowire.com Today, 3:36 pm
    • Taijuan Walker takes loss versus Orioles on Saturday
Taijuan Walker allowed three runs with four strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings in a loss to the Orioles on Saturday.

Advice: Walker tossed a clean first inning, then worked around two baserunners in the second. A double, base hit, and a sacrifice fly brought the first run across the board for the Orioles in the third inning. Anthony Santander then led off the fourth with a solo homer. Walker would pitch into the sixth, giving up the go-ahead run on two hits and a sacrifice fly before leaving with two outs. The 31-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 5.33 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, and a 40/18 K/BB ratio across 49 innings. He lines up for a start against the Diamondbacks in Philadelphia on Friday.
