• Quantrill gets first win as Rockies’ streak ends
Cal Quantrill fanned nine in 7 2/3 scoreless innings Friday to pick up his first win as the Rockies topped the Pirates 3-2.

Advice: The streak is over; the Rockies had trailed in all 31 games this season until tonight, when they went up 3-0 in the sixth and managed to hang on in spite of a two-run homer in the ninth. Quantrill came into this one with a 5.34 ERA and a 17/14 K/BB ratio in 32 innings. The nine strikeouts are his high total since Aug. 2021. He hadn’t even struck out as many as seven batters since 2022. Rotoworld 20 minutes ago

  • Jalen Beeks records sixth career save for Rockies
Despite giving up a homer in two-thirds of an inning, Jalen Beeks picked up his sixth career save Friday against the Pirates.

Advice: The homer was a two-run shot from Oneil Cruz, plating one inherited runner. Beeks got the call tonight because Justin Lawrence is on paternity leave. It’s the fifth straight season in which he’s appeared (he missed 2021 after Tommy John) in which he’s earned a save, but he’s recorded just six total. Rotoworld 20 minutes ago

  • Brett Baty homers twice as Mets fall to Rays
Brett Baty went 3-for-4 with a pair of homers and four RBI on Friday night as the Mets fell to the Rays in a slugfest at Tropicana Field.

Advice: Baty opened the scoring in the ballgame, crushing a two-out, 378-foot (109.2 mph EV) three-run shot off of Aaron Civale in the second inning. That lead would be short-lived though. Baty then added a 421-foot (107.7 mph EV) solo shot off of Jason Adam in the ninth that pulled the Mets to within two runs at 10-8, but that would be as close as they would get. With his three-hit attack, Baty is now hitting .271/.340/.385 with three homers and 13 RBI on the season. Rotoworld 28 minutes ago

  • José Quintana gets obliterated in loss to Rays
José Quintana was absolutely obliterated in Friday night’s loss to the Rays, surrendering eight runs on 10 hits in just 2 2/3 innings of work.

Advice: Woof. The 35-year-old left-hander also walked a batter while striking out two in the abbreviated outing. The Rays got to him early and often in this one, pushing three runs across in the second inning and adding five more while chasing Quintana in the third inning. Quintana got eight swings and misses on 65 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 22 percent. He’ll try to pick up the pieces and improve upon his suddenly-grotesque 5.20 ERA and 1.54 WHIP when he takes on the Cardinals in St. Louis on Wednesday. Rotoworld 28 minutes ago
  • Exits with blurred vision
Bailey was removed from Friday's game against the Phillies due to blurred vision, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Bailey was struck in the face mask by a foul tip off the bat of Alec Bohm during the first inning of Friday's contest and was later replaced by Tom Murphy in the second frame. The Giants are still in the process of evaluating Bailey, but an update on his status may be available after the game. Rotowire.com Today, 5:38 pm

  • Patrick Bailey leaves game due to blurred vision
Patrick Bailey was pulled from Friday night’s ballgame against the Phillies due to blurred vision.

Advice: Bailey took a foul ball off the face mask during Alec Bohm’s at-bat in the first inning. He’ll presumably go through the full concussion protocol now just to make sure that everything checks out alright. It’s likely that the Giants will need to do some maneuvering on their roster to get an extra catcher in there on Saturday. Rotoworld Today, 5:35 pm

  • Jacob Young pulled due to apparent injury Friday
Jacob Young was pulled from Friday’s showdown against the Blue Jays in the fifth inning due to an apparent injury.

Advice: No word yet on what happened to the 24-year-old speedster, but he was replaced by Jesse Winker when the Nationals took the field to start the fifth inning. Prior to exiting, Young had been 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored. Look for the team to provide an update on his status shortly. Rotoworld Today, 5:06 pm

  • Patrick Bailey leaves game with apparent injury
Patrick Bailey was removed from Friday night’s battle against the Phillies in the second inning due to an apparent injury.

Advice: It’s not immediately clear what happened, but Bailey took a hard foul ball off of his face mask during the first inning and it could be related. Expect the Giants to provide an update on his status as soon as one becomes available. Rotoworld Today, 4:58 pm

  • Twins bring back Kody Funderburk from Triple-A
Twins recalled LHP Kody Funderburk from Triple-A St. Paul.

Advice: The 27-year-old southpaw had just been optioned to Triple-A St. Paul on Wednesday, but he’ll head right back with Brock Stewart (shoulder) landing on the injured list. Funderburk has been terrific in 11 appearances with the Twins this season, registering a 3.38 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and a 15/5 K/BB ratio over 13 1/3 innings. Rotoworld Today, 4:54 pm
