    Garrett Crochet picked up his second victory of the season on Sunday afternoon, striking out six batters over six innings of one-run baseball against the Cardinals.

    Advice: The 24-year-old southpaw scattered just three hits on the afternoon and didn’t walk a batter. The lone blemish on his day came on a solo blast off the bat of Willson Contreras in the fourth inning. Aside from that, he was brilliant. Crochet generated eight swings and misses on 88 pitches on the day — four of those on his cutter — while posting a CSW of 28 percent.     Willson Contreras clubbed his sixth home run of the season on Sunday afternoon, accounting for the entirety of the Cardinals’ offense in a loss to the White Sox.

    Advice: The 31-year-old backstop tagged White Sox’ left-hander Garrett Crochet for his 426-foot (111.4 mph EV) solo shot in the fourth inning, tying the game at 1-1. For not being stretched out, he worked deeper than expected, throwing 50 pitches (33 strikes) in the ballgame. The lone tally against him came on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Bryan Ramos in the second inning. Liberatore got seven whiffs on the afternoon, posting a CSW of 32 percent. It’s unclear if he’ll get another shot next weekend against the Brewers, or if the Cardinals will utilize Zack Thompson to fill Steven Matz’s spot in the rotation going forward.     Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Sunday that Rodriguez (shoulder) will undergo an MRI this week to check his recovery progress, after which he could be cleared to resume a throwing program, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republicreports.

    Advice: The left-hander was shut down from throwing in mid-April after he experienced renewed tightness in his shoulder, but Lovullo said the left-hander has recently been "feeling good." Rodriguez will require a lengthy build-up period before embarking on a minor-league rehab assignment, so he's likely at least a month away from making his season debut. He’s due to face the Cubs in each of his next two outings, assuming that he doesn’t wind up being replaced by Paul Skenes. The 28-year-old hurler has really struggled in two outings for the Giants this season, posting a miserable 17.36 ERA, 3.43 WHIP and a 4/2 K/BB ratio over 4 2/3 innings.
