• Struggles against Astros
Brooks (0-2) allowed five runs (one earned) on nine hits and three walks over 4.1 innings Sunday, striking out one and taking a loss against Houston.

Advice: Brooks worked around some danger in each of the first three innings without allowing a run before the Astros broke out for five runs in the fourth. Fortunately for him, only one run was earned before a throwing error by Max Schuemann. Brooks fired a quality start in each of his first two MLB appearances this season but needed 90 pitches to get through 4.1 innings Sunday. He now owns a 3.63 ERA with a 9:5 K:BB through 17.1 innings. Brooks' next start is lined up to be in Atlanta next weekend. Rotowire.com Today, 8:06 pm

  • Improves to 5-0
Blanco (5-0) allowed a run on four hits and a walk over seven innings Sunday, striking out six and earning a win over the Athletics.

Advice: Blanco fired five scoreless frames before coughing up a solo shot to Max Schuemann in the sixth inning. It was Blanco's first start since May 14 after serving a suspension for using a foreign substance. He forced 17 swinging strikes, including seven with his slider. It was the third time in nine starts that he's reached that number. Blanco lowered his ERA to a stellar 1.99 with a 51:22 K:BB through 54.1 frames. His next start is projected to be at home against the Twins. Rotowire.com Today, 7:56 pm

  • Rehabbing in Arizona
McDonald (groin) has turned in a 5.79 ERA, 1.90 WHIP and 4:2 K:BB in 4.2 innings through four rehab outings in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League.

Advice: McDonald has resided on Double-A Richmond's 7-day injured list all season while healing up from a groin injury, but he may not be far away from making his 2024 debut for the Giants' Eastern League affiliate. He's yet to pitch at the Double-A level but was dominant during his time at High-A Eugene in 2023, pitching to a 0.96 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 39:8 K:BB in 37.2 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 7:35 pm
  • Notches quality start
Corbin pitched six innings Sunday against Seattle, yielding three earned runs on four hits and two walks. He struck out four and did not factor into the decision.

Advice: Corbin managed to log his second quality start of the season Sunday, rebounding from his previous outing where he allowed eight earned runs. Even in tonight's quality start, Corbin allowed two home runs and has now allowed five home runs in his last two starts. Corbin (1-5) has been wildly inconsistent all season, posting a 6.12 ERA and 1.69 WHIP across 60.1 innings. His next start is tentatively scheduled for next weekend in Cleveland. • Cools off in no-decision
Woo did not factor into the decision Sunday against Washington, allowing three earned runs on five hits and zero walks over six innings. He struck out one.

Advice: Woo finally showed some signs of weakness Sunday, surrendering his first home run of the season and allowing a season-high three earned runs. Even so, the 24-year-old needed just 70 pitches to notch his second consecutive quality start. Despite not topping 80 pitches in any outing this season, Woo sits at 2-0 with a sparkling 1.66 ERA and 0.60 WHIP in 21.2 innings this season. He is tentatively scheduled to start Friday's game against the Angels. Rotowire.com Today, 7:08 pm

  • Ian Hamilton (COVID-19 IL) set to return Tuesday
Ian Hamilton (COVID-19 IL) is expected to rejoin the Yankees on Tuesday.

Advice: The Yankees already optioned out Yoendrys Gomez on Sunday to free up a spot in their bullpen for Hamilton’s return. The 28-year-old hurler has registered a 3.18 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and a 19/9 K/BB ratio over 22 2/3 innings of work out of the Yankees’ bullpen this season. Rotoworld Today, 6:33 pm

  • Set to be activated Tuesday
Hamilton (illness) is expected to be activated from the COVID-19 injured list Tuesday, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Hamilton was eligible to return for Sunday's series finale in San Diego, but the team will ultimately end up giving him a couple extra days off before he is added to the active roster ahead of New York's three-game series on the road against the Angels beginning Tuesday. Yoendrys Gomez was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday, opening a spot on the 26-man roster for Hamilton. Rotowire.com Today, 6:31 pm

  • Bryan Woo delivers quality start against Nationals
Bryan Woo pitched six innings and allowed three runs Sunday versus the Nationals.

Advice: Woo got just three missed swings and one strikeout today, but he proved moderately effective in allowing only five hard-hit balls and five hits. The lone extra-base hit he gave up was a solo shot to Joey Gallo. Woo will face the Angels at home next weekend, making him a solid play in mixed leagues. Rotoworld Today, 4:59 pm

  • Patrick Corbin gives up four runs in no-decision
Patrick Corbin surrendered four runs — three earned - in six innings Sunday in a no-decision against the Mariners.

Advice: Corbin gave up two homers and left with his team down by a run, but he avoided a loss after the Nationals scored twice in the seventh, only to give up five runs later. Corbin has a 6.12 ERA after 11 turns. Since he’s in the last year of his contract, he might finally lose his job later this season. Still, someone needs to emerge as a viable replacement first.
