    • Cardinals and Mets postponed on Wednesday
Wednesday’s scheduled contest between the Cardinals and Mets in New York was postponed due to rain.

Advice: The game will be made up on August 5. The Cardinals’ scheduled starter, Sonny Gray, will pitch on Thursday against the Brewers. Mets’ scheduled starter Jose Quintana will pitch on Friday, pushing rookie right-hander Christian Scott back to Saturday. Rotoworld Today, 1:19 pm

    • Mets-Cardinals game postponed
Gray and the Cardinals won't play the Mets on Wednesday after the game was postponed due to inclement weather, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The game will be made up on Aug. 5, which had been a mutual off day for the two clubs. As a result of the postponement, Gray is expected to be pushed back one day in the pitching schedule to start Thursday in Milwaukee. Rotowire.com Today, 12:55 pm

    • Cleared for rehab assignment
Gelof (oblique) will join Triple-A Las Vegas this weekend to begin a rehab assignment, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Gelof has missed the last two weeks with a strained left oblique but has been upping his baseball activities in recent days and was spotted running the bases earlier Wednesday, per Gallegos. Because the young infielder hasn't missed much time, he shouldn't need too many at-bats in the minors before being activated from the 10-day injured list. Rotowire.com Today, 11:26 am

    • Back to IL with shoulder issue
The Marlins placed Cabrera on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a right shoulder impingement.

Advice: Cabrera was removed after two innings during his start in Tuesday's 8-2 loss to the Dodgers with what was referred to as right biceps discomfort, but it's officially a shoulder impingement that will force him to the IL. It's the same injury that kept him out for the first few weeks of the season. Cabrera will be eligible to return from the IL later this month, but there's currently no timetable for the righty. • Marlins place Edward Cabrera on 15-day IL
Marlins placed RHP Edward Cabrera on the 15-day injured list with a right shoulder impingement.

Advice: Even with Braxton Garrett back from the injured list, another Marlins starter is right back on that list. Cabrera exited Tuesday’s game early with what was called bicep discomfort, but the team is placing him on the IL with a shoulder injury. The 26-year-old is off to a rough start posting a 7.17 ERA, 1.59 WHIP with a 31/14 K/BB ratio across 21 1/3 innings this season. Rotoworld Today, 10:51 am

    • Not in Wednesday's lineup
Manzardo is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Tigers.

Advice: Following his promotion from Triple-A Columbus on Monday, Manzardo started both of the first two games of the series versus Detroit, going 0-for-7 with five strikeouts. He'll begin Wednesday's contest on the bench, with Jose Ramirez getting a day out of the field and serving as Cleveland's DH. Rotowire.com Today, 7:20 am

    • May get another rehab outing
Rays manager Kevin Cash said Tuesday that the team will discuss whether Fairbanks (arm) will be activated or make another rehab appearance, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Fairbanks allowed two hits but completed a scoreless inning with Triple-A Durham on Tuesday. He averaged 97.3 mph with his four-seamer in the appearance, which is up a bit from his season average. It sounds like Fairbanks could be back as soon as the weekend series against the Yankees, but that decision hasn't been announced yet. Rotowire.com Today, 6:55 am

    • Big day at plate in win
Alonso went 2-for-5 with a home run, a double, three RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's 7-5 win over the Cardinals.

Advice: Alonso finally showed some signs of life at the plate Tuesday night after breaking out of a slump. Before his two-RBI double in the fifth, Alonso had one hit over his last 41 at-bats. He later followed things up with a huge insurance home run in the eighth to put the Mets up 7-4. Alonso is now slashing just .212/.297/.445 with nine homers, 19 RBI, 22 runs and a 14:32 BB:K in 155 plate appearances, though Tuesday's outburst showed some welcoming signs that his offense could be emerging once again. • Grabs win over Cardinals
Butto (1-2) got the win Tuesday over the Cardinals, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out three over five innings.

Advice: Butto got off to a rocky start, surrendering a leadoff home run to Brendan Donovan and another two runs in the opening frame. He was able to settle in the rest of the way, tossing four shutout innings despite having shaky command all night. Butto only threw 47 out of 89 pitches for strikes and walked multiple batters for a fourth straight start while his three punchouts were a season low. Butto owns a 3.00 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 34:17 K:BB in 33 innings and tentatively lines up for a rough start against the Phillies early next week. Rotowire.com Today, 3:29 am
