    • Fernando Tatis Jr. (femur) out until second half
Fernando Tatis Jr. expects to be sidelined until after the All-Star break because of his right femoral stress reaction.

Advice: And not just until immediately after the All-Star break, either; this will likely be at least a six-week injury for Tatis. Bryce Johnson will fill in for now, but the Padres need to go get themselves an extra outfielder as soon as possible. Rotoworld 50 minutes ago

    • Ohtani walks, hits sac fly in win over White Sox
Shohei Ohtani went 0-for-3 with a walk and an RBI against the White Sox on Monday.

Advice: It was a quiet game for the Dodgers offense against White Sox starter Garrett Crochet. Ohtani hit a sacrifice fly in the ninth inning to give Los Angeles a 3-0 lead. It was his 58th RBI on the season. He trails only Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna for the National League lead in RBI. Ohtani is hitting .318 with a 1.021 OPS on the season. • Donovan stays hot with three-hit game Monday
Brendan Donovan went 3-for-4 with an RBI against the Braves on Monday.

Advice: Donovan’s RBI single in the third inning off Braves starter Spencer Schwellenbach gave the Cardinals a 3-0 lead. He now has a hit in eight consecutive games and 17 of his last 18 games. Donovan is 26-for-71 (.366) with four home runs and 14 RBI in his last 18 games. His season average is up to .269 with a .753 OPS and 39 RBI. Rotoworld Today, 7:30 pm

    • Plays catch from 90 feet
Ohtani (elbow) played catch from 90 feet Monday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Advice: It's the first time he's thrown from that distance since last September's Tommy John surgery. Ohtani continues to progress in his rehab with no issues, and he has certainly shown no ill effects at the plate as a result of the recovery. The Dodgers haven't ruled out the possibility of Ohtani playing the outfield at some point in 2024, although that still seems like a long shot. He will continue to serve as the club's designated hitter, with an eye on resuming two-way duties in 2025. Rotowire.com Today, 4:12 pm

    • Stress reaction sends Fernando Tatis Jr. to IL
Padres placed OF Fernando Tatis Jr. on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to June 22, with a right femoral stress reaction.

Advice: That’s better than a stress fracture, but it’s not great. The Padres will likely go to Bryce Johnson in right field most days, but he’s not going to replace Tatis’s production. Tatis was hitting .279/.354/.468 with 14 homers in 345 plate appearances. Rotoworld Today, 3:54 pm

    • Lands on IL with quad injury
The Padres placed Tatis on the 10-day injured list Monday, retroactive to June 22, due to a right femoral stress reaction in his quadriceps.

Advice: Tatis missed the last two games with a triceps injury after being hit in the left arm by a pitch Friday, and he will now be sidelined with a separate quadriceps injury. His stint on the IL would line up with a return in early July, but it's possible the 25-year-old will be held out longer than that until perhaps after the All-Star break, per Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune. Tatis is slashing .279/.354/.468 with 14 home runs and 36 RBI over 345 plate appearances and an .822 OPS. Rotowire.com Today, 3:44 pm

    • Fernando Tatis Jr. to land on IL with quad injury
Fernando Tatis Jr. is going on the IL with a slight stress reaction in his quad, according to manager Mike Shildt.

Advice: That’s another big loss for the Padres offense, especially given the alternatives in right field. The Padres are bringing up Bryce Johnson and likely will give him a lot of playing time for at least the next couple of weeks. Rotoworld Today, 3:32 pm

    • Playing catch Monday
Musgrove (elbow) will play catch Monday, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Musgrove has been throwing plyo balls in recent days, but this will be his first time playing catch since he landed on the injured list at the beginning of the month. Eventual surgery for the right-hander isn't ruled out, but he will attempt to come back without an operation. Even if the non-surgical route for Musgrove works, he is still several weeks away from a potential return. Rotowire.com Today, 3:07 pm

    • Paul Goldschmidt resting versus Braves
Paul Goldschmidt is being rested Monday against the Braves.

Advice: Goldschmidt’s scheduled day off was originally set for Saturday, but it was pushed back because of Nolan Arenado’s ailments. It’s happening today anyway, even though Arenado still isn’t back. Alec Burleson is playing first base. Rotoworld Today, 1:56 pm
