    • Goes deep again Saturday
Merrill went 1-for-3 with a solo home run Saturday in a loss to the Mets.

Advice: Merrill produced the only Padres run with a solo shot to center field in the fifth inning. The rookie has homered in three straight contests, belting four total long balls over that span. Merrill has also notched at least one hit in nine of his past 10 games and is batting .351 (13-for-37) with eight extra-base hits, six RBI, seven runs and two steals during that stretch. • Gets final out for save
Stanek allowed a hit but was not charged with a run over one-third of an inning, earning the save in Saturday's 7-5 win over the Rangers.

Advice: Eduard Bazardo struggled in the ninth inning after being brought in with a six-run lead. He gave up three runs and Stanek allowed one inherited runner to score before getting Corey Seager on a groundout to end the contest. Stanek is gaining an increasingly notable role in the Mariners' bullpen, having earned four saves over his last six appearances, though he likely got this opportunity because Andres Munoz had pitched the last two days. Stanek is up to seven saves with a 4.00 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 28:10 K:BB over 27 innings. At this point, the Mariners' closer situation should be considered a committee between Stanek and Munoz, with the latter likely to receive assignments in the highest-leverage spots. • Ryne Stanek gets one-out save against Rangers
Ryne Stanek got the final out to get a save against the Rangers on Saturday.

Advice: Stanek gets the save even in a 7-3 game because he faced the tying run. The right-hander allows a two-run single to Marcus Semien, but those runs were charged to Eduard Bazardo. He was able to get Corey Seager out to end the game, but it’s worth noting it took a terrific play by Tyler Locklear to get that out. Stanek now has seven saves in 2024. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:05 pm
    • Jackson Merrill power binge continues in loss
Jackson Merrill went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in a loss to the Mets on Saturday.

Advice: Merrill launched a 411-foot blast against Jose Quintana for his seventh home run of the season. The rookie now has four home runs in his last three games. All of them have also been solo shots. Merrill was billed as primarily a batting average asset who wouldn’t provide much power, so it’s nice to see him starting to show some pop. Even pushing 15-20 home runs in a season would be a big boost to his fantasy value. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:31 pm

    • Salvador Perez (knee) could return on Sunday
Salvador Perez (knee) is not in the Royals’ starting lineup for Saturday night’s battle against the Dodgers.

Advice: The star 34-year-old backstop was removed from Friday’s game due to discomfort in his right knee. He underwent an MRI exam on Saturday — the results of which were very favorable — and Perez is expected to return to the Royals’ lineup in a day or two. Austin Nola was recalled from Triple-A Omaha on Saturday to add depth behind the plate. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:46 pm
    • Could be back Sunday
Perez has a right knee sprain but is expected to be back in the lineup Sunday against the Dodgers or Tuesday against Oakland, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports.

Advice: An MRI revealed Perez is dealing with just a minor sprain and some inflammation in his right knee, which is encouraging news after he was pulled from Friday's game against Los Angeles. While Perez is expected to be back in the lineup as soon as Sunday, it's possible he'll DH for a few games to get his knee back to full strength, especially after the Royals called up Austin Nola on Saturday. • Having imaging done on right knee
Winker will undergo an MRI after sustaining a right knee injury during Saturday's game against the Marlins, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Advice: Winker awkwardly slid back into second after rounding the base on a Ildemaro Vargas hit and was removed from the game in the third inning. The outfielder will have an MRI done on his right knee later Saturday, which should provide some insight on the severity of the injury. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:51 pm

    • Jesse Winker (knee) heading for MRI exam
Jesse Winker will undergo an MRI exam to determine the extent of his right knee injury.

Advice: Winker sustained the injury on Saturday when he was trying to get back to second base in the opening inning. If he’s forced to miss any substantial time, it could potentially open the door for the highly anticipated arrival of James Wood from Triple-A Rochester. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:40 pm

    • On bench Saturday
Perez (knee) isn't in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Dodgers.

Advice: Perez was pulled from Friday's game with right knee discomfort and will be held out of the lineup Saturday, giving way to Freddy Fermin behind the dish. While it's unclear how severe Perez's injury is, the Royals felt the need to call up catcher Austin Nola from Triple-A Omaha, indicating Perez could miss multiple games.
