    • Sale strikes out 10 in loss to Nationals Friday
      Chris Sale allowed two runs in seven innings and took the loss against the Nationals on Friday.

      Advice: Sale gave up five hits, walked one and struck out 10. It was an impressive bounce back performance after he allowed eight runs in his last start. Sale has been tremendous at times this season. While he has a 3.01 ERA on the year, his xFIP is even better at 2.43. The 35-year-old left-hander is set to face the Orioles on the road next week.     • Rebounds in losing effort
      Sale (8-2) took the loss Friday against the Nationals, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out 10.

      Advice: It was a strong bounce-back effort from Sale after he surrendered eight runs against Oakland in his last start. However, Atlanta couldn't get on the board until the eighth inning in an eventual 2-1 defeat. Sale now has eight or more strikeouts in six of his last seven outings. His ERA sits at 3.01 with a 0.94 WHIP and 92:11 K:BB across 12 starts (74.2 innings) this year. Sale's currently in line for a road matchup with the Orioles in his next outing.     • Fans eight in victory
      Greene (4-2) earned the win over the Cubs on Thursday, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out eight batters over 6.2 innings.

      Advice: Greene gave up a pair of two-run homers but otherwise kept the Cubs off the scoreboard. The right-hander racked up 17 whiffs among his 111 pitches and gave Cincinnati 6.2 frames, marking the fifth straight start during which he's completed at least six innings.       Parker allowed two runs on three hits and no walks while striking out two batters over seven innings in a no-decision against Atlanta on Thursday.

      Advice: Parker allowed just one hit through six scoreless frames before Atlanta got to him for a pair of runs on a single and a homer in the seventh. The rookie left-hander still managed to close out that frame to tie his longest outing of the season, but he had to settle for a no-decision. Parker has been remarkably consistent as a major-league pitcher thus far, allowing three or fewer runs in all 10 of his starts.       Hunter Greene allowed four runs in 6 2/3 innings and got the win in the Reds’ 8-4 victory over the Cubs on Thursday.



      Advice: Greene gave up five hits, walked two and struck out eight. The win was his fourth in 13 starts this season. It was a bit of a mixed bag for Greene with two home runs allowed and eight strikeouts. He has a 3.61 ERA on the season, but a 4.23 xFIP.     • Parker goes seven innings in no-decison Thursday
      Mitchell Parker allowed two runs in seven innings and got a no-decision against the Braves on Thursday.



      Advice: Parker gave up three hits, walked none and struck out two. He had a 2-0 lead in the seventh inning, but Adam Duvall got him for a game-tying two-run home run. Parker’s ERA is 3.47 in 10 starts this year, though he’s won just one of his last eight starts. The 24-year-old left-hander is set to face the Tigers on the road next week.

    • Secures save No. 10
      Estevez picked up the save in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Padres while pitching a perfect ninth inning.

      Advice: Estevez needed just nine pitches to retire the side for his second save in as many days. He has not allowed a baserunner in any of his last three appearances and becomes the 16th pitcher to reach double-digit saves this year.       Ober (5-4) took the loss Tuesday, allowing three runs on three hits, including a home run, and four walks over five innings against the Yankees. He struck out two.

      Advice: Ober wasn't sharp against a Yankees lineup that is on a roll. The outing continued his recent struggles, as he has a 7.58 ERA with a 15:8 K:BB in his last 19 innings. Ober hasn't thrown more than five innings in any of his last four starts, making him a risky option in his next start, which lines up to come this weekend in Pittsburgh.       Carlos Estévez recorded his 10th save by pitching a perfect ninth against the Padres on Tuesday.

      Advice: It was another easy ninth for Estévez; he’s thrown just 19 pitches in earning saves the last two days.
