    • Homers in loss
Candelario went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 6-4 loss to San Diego.

Advice: Candelario and Stuart Fairchild each homered in the seventh inning, closing a four-run deficit to two. It was the second consecutive game with multiple hits for Candelario, who endured an 0-for-19 slump heading into the series against the Padres. He's hitting .189/.282/.378 with three homers and nine RBI through 103 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:14 am
    • Covers first base in win
Candelario started at first base and went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Monday's 5-2 win over the Padres.

Advice: Candelario filled in at first base for Christian Encarnacion-Strand (hand), who was available off the bench. His second-inning double put an end to an 0-for-19 skid, and he eventually scored on a balk. The slumping corner infielder has spent just two days this season with average of .200 or better. • Gets breather Saturday
Candelario isn't in the Reds' lineup for Saturday's game against the Rangers.

Advice: Candelario will get a chance to clear his head Saturday after going 0-for-15 with eight strikeouts across his last five games. Santiago Espinal will step in to cover third base instead while batting ninth. Rotowire.com Saturday, 10:18 am
    • Jeimer Candelario goes 0-for-4 in defeat
Jeimer Candelario finished 0-for-4 with three strikeouts against the Rangers on Friday.

Advice: Candelario would have been one to avoid in fantasy drafts this year if only he had signed with almost any other team. With the Reds, though, there was reason to think he’d maintain ample mixed-league value. Instead, his exit velocity numbers are way down and his strikeout rate is way up, making this a truly miserable April for the 30-year-old. It doesn’t seem likely that he’ll remain this bad, but he’s fortunate that the Noelvi Marte suspension and Matt McLain injury have left his playing time unchallenged. Rotoworld Friday, 11:22 pm
    • Royce Lewis (quad) to be re-evaluated this week
Twins general manager Derek Faley told reporters Royce Lewis (quad) will be re-evaluated later this week.

Advice: Lewis resumed baseball activities last week as he continues his recovery from a severe right quad strain that he suffered back on Opening Day. There should be a clearer timetable for his return following his latest evaluation. Rotoworld Tuesday, 4:12 pm
