      Seager went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Friday's 7-1 loss to Kansas City.

      Advice: Seager delivered the Rangers' lone run with a single in the third inning. He's been mired in a slump and entered Friday's game batting .073 (3-for-41) with two RBI over the previous 11 games. Rangers general manager Chris Young took the long view when speaking with Kenndi Landry of MLB.com, indicating the club expected Seager to need some time to get going after undergoing hernia surgery in January.       Corey Seager went 2-for-4 with an RBI in a loss to the Royals on Friday.

      Advice: Seager drove in the first — and only — run of the night with an RBI single off Brady Singer in the third. Seager has not gotten off to a strong start to the 2024 campaign, as the pair of knocks still has his average at a disappointing .229 with an equally disappointing .297 slugging percentage.       McLain (shoulder) is about a week away from a follow-up appointment that will give the Reds a better idea on his return timetable, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

      Advice: If all goes well with his exam, McLain could start working out at the Reds' spring training facility in Arizona. He doesn't have an official return date yet.     • Jackson Merrill goes hitless Wednesday in victory
      Jackson Merrill went 0-for-4 with a strikeout on Wednesday in the Padres’ win over the Reds.

      Advice: Don’t look now, but Merrill has gone 0-for-19 in six contests over the last week. The 21-year-old top prospect looked extremely impressive at the outset of the season in his Padres debut, but has hit a frosty stretch at the dish of late, which also coincides with a nagging groin issue that he’s been playing through.       Turang went 2-for-3 with three RBI, a run scored, a walk and stole a base during Tuesday's 8-2 win over the Rays.

      Advice: Turang's RBI single in the second inning drove in Jackson Chourio to give Milwaukee a 2-0 lead, and his seventh-inning double scored another two runs, pushing the score to 8-2. The 24-year-old second baseman continues to look like a reformed hitter, batting .312 through 93 at-bats this season -- a drastic improvement from his .218 average last year -- and his 14 stolen bases rank second in the majors.       Garcia went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Blue Jays.

      Advice: Garcia has hit safely in five straight games, going 8-for-22 (.364) with two steals, four RBI and four runs scored in that span. He continues to improve at the plate as he shakes off a slow start to the campaign.       Brice Turang went 2-for-3 with a double, three RBI, and a run scored in Tuesday’s win over the Rays.

      Advice: Turang singled in the second inning to bring home Jackson Chourio, giving the Brewers an early 2-0 lead, but that was just the start of a strong night for the young second baseman. Turang would later double in the seventh inning, driving in two more runs to put the Brewers up 8-2. Turang has upped his RBI total to 12 on the season and his hitting a solid .312 through the first month of the season.

      Maikel Garcia went 1-for-4 with a double in loss to the Tigers.

      Advice: It wasn’t a tremendous performance from Garcia, but the Royals had just four hits on the day. The double gave Garcia a hit in eight of his last 10 games to up his slash line to .223/.276/.384.
