  • No timetable for return to majors
    Astros manager Joe Espada said in an interview with Sports Talk 790 on Tuesday that there is "no timetable" for Abreu's return to the major-league team, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

    Advice: Abreu was optioned to the Astros' Arizona Complex League affiliate last week after hitting just .099/.156/.113 slash line in 77 plate appearances this season. He's been working on getting his swing right and is "doing very well," per Espada, although Abreu has not played in any official games yet.     Waldichuk (elbow) experienced a setback after throwing a 25-pitch live batting practice April 29 and is shut down for the time being, MLB.com reports.

    Advice: The left-hander has not thrown since that session and is slated to be reevaluated in coming days. It's naturally a tough break for Waldichuk, who opened the season on the 60-day IL but had been making uninterrupted progress prior to this recent stumble.
