      Advice: The speedy 30-year-old shortstop singled, stole a base and raced all the way around from second to score on a wild pitch as Bryce Harper walked in the fifth inning, but it seemed to have taken a toll on his hamstring as he was replaced when the Phillies took the field.       Trea Turner was removed from Friday night’s contest against the Giants in the fifth inning due to an apparent injury.

      Advice: Uh oh. That’s never what you want to hear. The 30-year-old superstar literally created a run on his own in the bottom of the fourth inning as he smacked a two-out single, stole second base and then raced around to score from second base on walk by Bryce Harper as the ball bounced away from the catcher. It’s possible that he tweaked a hamstring or something while zooming around the bases, but hopefully it’s nothing major. Look for the Phillies to provide an update on his status shortly.       Brandon Lowe (oblique) will begin a minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Durham on Tuesday.

      Advice: The 29-year-old slugger has been shelved since April 9 due to a right oblique strain. Given the long layoff, he’s likely to require several games at the Triple-A level to get his timing back before he’s ready to return to a Rays’ lineup that is in desperate need of a boost.       Reds sent TJ Friedl (wrist) on a rehab assignment to Triple-A Louisville.

      Advice: Two weeks ago, Reds manager David Bell said that Friedl could get a rehab assignment soon and the team are sticking to that timetable. Friedl fractured his right wrist during spring training, but there hasn’t been any setbacks in his recovery, so seeing him get some live reps is a positive sign.       Friedl (wrist) was sent to Triple-A Louisville on Thursday to begin a rehab assignment, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

      Advice: Friedl suffered a small fracture of the distal radius of his right wrist back in mid-March, but he's finally made enough progress in order to be cleared to play in games. Given how much time he's missed, Friedl will likely require a good number of rehab at-bats in the minors before returning from the 10-day injured list.     • Hammered for six runs in loss
      Montgomery (1-2) took the loss against the Dodgers on Wednesday, allowing six runs on six hits and three walks over three innings while striking out one.

      Advice: It wasn't Montgomery's night as the lefty got pounded for five runs in the second inning after failing to retire six batters in a row, leading to his shortest outing of the campaign. He allowed a season-high two home runs in the contest and posted just one strikeout, giving him an 8:4 K:BB through his first three starts. Montgomery produced only three swinging strikes on the night and has yet to record more than four strikeouts in an outing, despite going six or more innings on two occasions.       Verlander pitched seven innings in a no-decision against the Guardians on Wednesday, allowing two runs on six hits and three walks while striking out two.

      Advice: Verlander allowed the leadoff man to reach in four of his seven innings of work but managed to limit the damage to only two runs, both of which came across in the top of the fifth. The veteran right-hander struggled to get ahead in the count for much of the contest and has now issued at least three walks in back-to-back starts, though he's still held opposing teams to two or fewer runs in all three outings to open the campaign.
