Griffin Canning gives up five runs in no-decision
Griffin Canning was charged with five runs (four earned) over six innings on Saturday in a no-decision against the Tigers.
Advice: Canning surrendered six hits, including a two-run homer to light-hitting backstop Jake Rogers in the sixth inning, which put him on the hook for a potential loss until the Angels’ offense bailed him out in the late innings. He struck out four and also issued a pair of walks. The 28-year-old righty has shown some flashes of fantasy upside over the last few years, but hasn’t quite put it all together. He’ll bring a pedestrian 4.71 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 63/32 K/BB ratio across 93 2/3 innings (17 starts) into a challenging road matchup on Friday against the Cubs.
