    • Berrios picks up seventh win over Yankees Thursday
Jose Berrios allowed two runs in seven innings and got the win in the Blue Jays’ 9-2 victory over the Yankees on Thursday.

Advice: Berrios gave up two hits, walked three and struck out eight. The win was his seventh of the year and second in June. The eight strikeouts were a season-high for Berrios. His struggles with the home run continued as he has allowed a home run in each of his last five starts and 11 of his last 12 starts. Both runs Berrios allowed came on the two-run home run he gave up to Trent Grisham in the fifth inning. He has a 3.38 ERA and 4.34 xFIP on the season. The 30-year-old right-hander is set to face the Astros at home next week.

    • Rodon hit hard again, allows eight runs in loss
Carlos Rodon allowed eight runs in five innings and took the loss against the Blue Jays on Thursday.

Advice: Rodon gave up 10 hits, walked one and struck out eight. That Rodon was able to complete five innings and strike out eight batters were positives, but if fantasy managers weren’t concerned about him before this start, they certainly are now. Rodon has allowed at least five runs in each of his last three starts and seen his ERA rise from 2.93 to 4.42. Rodon isn’t a big time strikeout pitcher like he was in his pre-Yankees career. His strikeout percentage is 23 percent this year compared to his 33 percent strikeout percentage with the Giants in 2022. Rodon had a 3.17 xFIP in 2021 with the White Sox and 2.91 xFIP in 2022 before his disaster 5.30 xFIP in his first year with the Yankees last year. His 4.34 xFIP this year is an improvement, but was also a sign that his ERA wasn’t going to remain below 3.00. This version of Rodon is also easier to hit as his 0.88 HR/9 in 2021 and 0.61 HR/9 in 2022 have turned into a 2.10 HR/9 in 2023 and a 1.54 HR/9 this year with the Yankees. There’s no way around the fact that Rodon’s $162 million pact with New York has become one of the biggest bust signings in the franchise’s long free agent history. The 31-year-old left-hander is set to face the Reds at home next week, but fantasy managers have to think about sending him to the bench if he wasn’t there already.

    • Tanner Scott collects 11th save on Thursday
Tanner Scott tossed a scoreless ninth inning on Thursday against the Phillies to notch his 11th save of the season.

Advice: Scott was summoned to protect a three-run lead against the division-rival Phillies and set down the side in order on just nine pitches (six strikes). The 29-year-old lefty has converted 11 of 13 save opportunities to accompany a 1.54 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 36/23 K/BB ratio across 35 innings (34 appearances). He hasn’t allowed a run in seven consecutive appearances since June 17. Rotoworld 32 minutes ago
    • Zack Wheeler stumbles late against Marlins
Zack Wheeler was charged with two runs over 6 2/3 innings on Thursday in a no-decision against the Marlins.

Advice: Wheeler maneuveredaround plenty of traffic on the basepaths into the late stages of this one, but was tagged for a pair of runs in the seventh inning when reliever Matt Strahm served up a game-tying three-run double to Bryan De La Cruz. The 34-year-old fantasy ace has allowed two earned runs or fewer in 14 of his 17 starts this season. He’ll bring a solid 2.73 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 112/31 K/BB ratio across 105 2/3 innings (17 starts) into a road tilt on Wednesday against the Cubs at Wrigley Field. Rotoworld 33 minutes ago

    • Trevor Rogers completes six frames vs. Phillies
Trevor Rogers allowed three runs over six innings on Thursday in a no-decision against the Phillies.

Advice: Rogers completed six innings for the fourth time in his last five starts and threw 103 pitches (57 strikes), his most in a single start since May 14, 2022. He struck out four and also handed out four free passes. He’ll square off against teh Red Sox on Wednesday in his next outing. Rotoworld 34 minutes ago

    • Gray hammered again for eight runs Thursday
Jon Gray allowed eight runs in five innings and took the loss against the Orioles on Thursday.

Advice: Gray gave up nine hits, walked one and struck out one. It’s the second time in his last three starts that Gray has allowed at least eight earned runs. In that time his ERA has increased from 2.17 to 3.77. The 32-year-old right-hander is set to face the Padres at home next week.

    • Burnes picks up ninth win in route Thursday
Corbin Burnes allowed one run in seven innings and got the win in the Orioles’ 11-2 victory over the Rangers on Monday.

Advice: Burnes gave up nine hits, walked none and struck out five. The win was his ninth of the year. Burnes was on cruise control in this one. Despite the nine hits, he allowed just one run on a solo home run off the bat of Adolis Garcia. Burnes lowered his ERA to 2.28 in the process. The 29-year-old right-hander is set to face the Mariners on the road next week.

    • Rangers release reliever Nabil Crismatt
      Rangers release Nabil Crismatt.

Advice: Crismatt made five relief appearances earlier this season for the Dodgers before heading over to the Rangers, where he didn’t end up getting a call back to the majors. The 29-year-old righty should be able to latch on somewhere as emergency organizational relief depth. He’s made 114 appearances in the big leagues since 2020. Rotoworld Today, 5:51 pm
    • Athletics outright Aaron Brooks to Triple-A
Athletics sent RHP Aaron Brooks outright to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Advice: Brooks passed through waivers unclaimed and will remain with Oakland moving forward as extra pitching depth. The 34-year-old journeyman righty has made five appearances (four starts) this season for the Athletics. Rotoworld Today, 5:45 pm
