    • Ranger Suárez struggles in loss to Braves Saturday
Ranger Suárez had his second straight rough outing in Saturday’s loss to the Braves, surrendering five runs on six hits over his five innings of work.

Advice: The 28-year-old southpaw racked up seven strikeouts on the night while issuing a pair of free passes. Most of the damage done against him came via the long ball, with Marcell Ozuna clubbing a two-run homer to cap off a three-run first inning and Ozzie Albies smacking a two-run homer in the fifth. Suárez got 13 swings and misses on 91 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 27 percent. This was the third straight rough start for Suárez who has seen his impeccable 1.75 ERA swell to 2.58. He’ll look to get back on track and finish the first half strong when he takes on the Athletics at home on Friday. Rotoworld Today, 7:24 pm
    • Will Smith homers again as Dodgers top Brewers
Will Smith homered again on Saturday, powering the Dodgers to a 5-3 victory over the visiting Brewers.

Advice: After homering in each of his final three at-bats on Friday night, Smith left the yard in his fourth straight at-bat with his 369-foot (101.6 mph EV) two-run shot off of Freddy Peralta in the opening inning on Saturday. In doing so, he became just the third player in Dodgers’ history to homer in four straight at-bats, joining Adrian Gonzalez (2015) and Shawn Green (2002). That would be his only hit in four at-bats on the night, but it played a significant role in propelling the Dodgers to victory. On the season, the 29-year-old backstop is now slashing .276/.348/.509 with 15 homers and 55 RBI. Rotoworld Today, 7:16 pm

    • Brent Rooker drives in four of Athletics’ 19 runs
Brent Rooker went 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBI in a 19-8 rout of the Orioles on Saturday.

Advice: The Athletics have now scored 19 runs twice in 2024, which is two times more than any other team in baseball. This is a weird sport. Rooker hit one of five homers for the A’s, and he got the party started early with a three-run shot off a completely ineffective Cade Povich. He also scored three runs because of course he did, everyone did. That’s not true but it sure felt that way. Rooker has homered 18 times while driving in 54 runs in a very impressive first-half of 2024, even while playing for one of the worst teams in baseball. Rotoworld Today, 4:14 pm

    • Reaches three times in win
Happ went 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBI in Friday's 5-1 win over the Angels.

Advice: A day after going 4-for-4 at the plate, Happ remained hot. The outfielder has eight RBI over the last two games, bringing his season total to 52. He had a career-high 84 RBI last year, and Happ could make a run at that total in 2024 if he maintains something close to his recent level of production. Rotowire.com Today, 6:19 am

    • Pummels three homers
Smith went 3-for-3 with three solo home runs, two walks and four total runs scored in Friday's 8-5 win over the Brewers.

Advice: Smith hit just two homers in June, so he's already off to a fantastic start in July. The catcher went to the opposite field for his first-inning blast before pulling his solo shots in the third and seventh innings. Smith is up to a .276/.349/.502 slash line with 14 homers, 53 RBI, 45 runs scored, 18 doubles and one triple over 73 contests this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:24 pm

    • Shane Baz takes loss to Rangers in 2024 debut
Shane Baz took a loss after allowing three runs in six innings Friday against the Rangers in his 2024 debut.

Advice: Baz allowed four singles and one double in the third, resulting in all three runs. He gave up just two additional hits and wound up with six strikeouts and one walk in the quality start. Unfortunately, quality starts aren’t enough for Rays pitchers this season, as the offense has proven incapable of scoring consistently. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:22 pm
    • Will Smith homers three times in win over Brewers
Will Smith hit three homers to help the Dodgers to an 8-5 win over the Brewers on Friday.

Advice: Three homers is a lot. Smith hit two of his dingers off Aaron Civale, and he took Bryan Hudson deep for his third roundtripper of the contest and the 14th of the season. On top of those homers, Smith also drew two walks. Smith continues to be among — of not the — best catchers in the sport and is slashing a strong .276/.349/.502 with 53 RBI. There’s plenty of reasons to believe he’ll be just as good or better in the second half of the year. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:45 pm

    • Loses despite quality start
Baz (0-1) allowed three runs on seven hits and a walk over six innings Friday, striking out six and taking the loss against the Rangers.

Advice: Making his first MLB appearance since July 10, 2022, Baz delivered a quality start on 92 pitches. He looked impressive outside of an ugly three-run third inning. His fastball averaged 96.2 mph and topped out at 99.1. Baz posted a 4.12 ERA with a 44:23 K:BB across 39.1 frames with Triple-A Durham prior to his promotion. The 25-year-old's spot in the rotation could be in question once Jeffrey Springs (elbow) is ready to return. As of now, Baz is in line to face the Yankees at home next week. • Allows five runs in no-decision
Gray did not factor into the decision in Friday's 7-6 win against the Nationals, allowing five runs on eight hits and one walk with six strikeouts over five innings.

Advice: Gray allowed a total of five runs over the first three innings and departed after five frames with a 5-3 deficit. He surrendered eight hard hits and now carries a 5.09 ERA in road starts compared to a 1.90 mark at home . On the season, the 34-year-old owns a 3.30 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 115:24 K:BB over 92.2 innings. He lines up for a home matchup against the Royals next week. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:08 pm
