    • Wraps huge June with three hits
Merrill went 3-for-4 with a double and a run in Sunday's loss to Boston.

Advice: Merrill was the only Padre to notch multiple hits in the contest, and he scored the team's only run after belting a one-out double in the seventh inning. The rookie finished June with back-to-back three-hit games, with half of his knocks during the pair of contests going for extra bases. Merrill swung a hot bat for most of the month, and he finished June with a .320/.346/.650 slash line along with nine home runs, 20 RBI, 17 runs and two stolen bases. • Rosenthal: Tanner Scott “is a popular name”
The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal said “Tanner Scott is a popular name on the trade market” and “the Marlins are virtually certain to trade” him at the deadline.

Advice: Rosenthal reported that “the Miami Marlins want a lot for their left-handed closer,” but they do expect to get it; however, it’s expected that Scott will not take over a closer’s role if he were traded to a contender. His strikeout-to-walk rate is at a career-low level and that command may keep him in a high-leverage shared role, facing mainly left-handed hitters. Rosenthal mentioned the Yankees, Orioles, and Phillies as contending teams that are expressing interest in adding Scott to their bullpen mix. Rotoworld Today, 8:05 am
    • Productive finish to month
Lowe went 2-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 11-2 win over the Orioles.

Advice: Lowe was part of the Rangers' offensive explosion Sunday and finished the month on an upswing. He went 8-for-21 (.381) with a double, two home runs, eight RBI and three additional runs scored over the final five games of June. Rotowire.com Today, 5:26 am

    • Hits for cycle in blowout win
Langford hit for the cycle in Sunday's 11-2 win over the Orioles, going 4-for-5 with four RBI and three runs scored.

Advice: Langford made history with the first cycle of the 2024 MLB season Sunday night. He flew out his first time up and then took off from there, tripling in the fourth and then later completing things with a three-run blast in his final at-bat of the evening in the eighth. Langford is putting together quite the rookie campaign despite the season struggles from the Rangers. He became the first rookie in MLB history with a cycle, a grand slam and an inside-the-park home run in a season. He also became the first Rangers rookie to hit for a cycle since 1985. Langford caps off a productive month of June, during which he slashed .309/.368/.526 with three homers, 22 RBI, 11 runs, six steals and an 8:17 BB:K in 106 plate appearances. • Wyatt Langford hits for cycle in rout of Orioles
Wyatt Langford hit for the cycle and drove in four runs as the Rangers bested the Orioles 11-2 on Sunday.

Advice: Langford had just 14 extra-base hits in 59 games this season before coming up with three tonight. The homer, his fourth, came in his fifth and final at-bat of the night. It caps off a fine June for Langford in which he hit .283/.347/.446 with two homers, 18 RBI and six steals in 25 games. Things will likely only keep getting better from here. • Out of Sunday's lineup
Heim is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.

Advice: Heim has a .163/.265/.233 slash line in his past 13 games and will sit for Sunday's series finale. Andrew Knizner will take over behind the plate and bat eighth. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:59 pm

    • Corey Seager absent due to hand injury
Corey Seager, who hurt his left hand when he was hit by a pitch Saturday, is out of the Rangers lineup for Sunday night’s game against the Orioles.

Advice: Josh Smith starts at shortstop, with Davis Wendzel playing third base. The good news is that Seager isn’t going on the IL, at least not yet. The Rangers have tomorrow off, so they can wait until Tuesday to make a decision there. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:41 pm

    • Withheld from Sunday's lineup
Seager (wrist) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.

Advice: The 30-year-old had X-rays come back negative after being struck in the left wrist by a pitch Saturday, and he'll miss at least one start. The Rangers are calling up Jonathan Ornelas for added infield depth, per Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News, which could signify that Seager will miss some time. No IL move is coming Sunday though, as Brock Burke was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock. Josh Smith is starting at shortstop as Davis Wendzel mans the hot corner. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:37 pm

    • Officially shut down for season
Triple-A Toledo placed Lange (lat) on its full-season injured list Friday.

Advice: The transaction confirms that the surgery Lange underwent this past week to address a right lat avulsion was indeed season-ending. Though the right-handed reliever is currently on the minor-league IL, the Tigers could recall him and place him on the major-league 60-day IL if the team needs to open up a spot on the 40-man roster at any point. Per Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press, Lange is optimistic that he'll be back to full health for the start of spring training in 2025. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:41 pm
