• Lifts 15th homer
Soto went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Angels.

Advice: Soto has been in the zone lately, going 14-for-39 (.359) with six homers and 12 RBI over his last 10 contests. He's produced five multi-hit efforts in that span. The star outfielder is up to 15 long balls this season, and he's added a .312/.408/.581 slash line, 46 RBI, 40 runs scored, four stolen bases and 11 doubles over 56 contests. • Julio Rodríguez comes through in eighth in victory
Julio Rodríguez went 2-for-4 with a go-ahead single in the bottom of the eighth as the Mariners bested the Astros 4-2 on Tuesday.

Advice: Rodriguez delivered after Josh Rojas tied the game with an RBI single off Ryan Pressly. Those two combined for four of the Mariners’ seven hits and all three of the team’s runs batted in tonight (the other run also came on Rodríguez’s eighth-inning hit, but it was the result of an error). Rodríguez is 8-for-17 with two homers and seven RBI in his last four games, raising his OPS from .606 to .657. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:01 pm
  • Luis Castillo delivers eighth quality start
Luis Castillo threw six innings of two-run ball against the Astros on Tuesday.

Advice: It’s the fourth straight start in which Castillo has allowed exactly two runs. He hasn’t given up more than two earned runs since his third start of the year on April 8, and his ERA is down to 3.28. He’ll face the Angels next. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:01 pm
  • Ryan Stanek notches third save for Mariners
Ryne Stanek picked up his third save with a perfect ninth Tuesday against the Astros.

Advice: Andrés Muñoz worked the previous two days, so he had this one off. Stanek has a 4.26 ERA and a 21/6 K/BB in 19 innings as the primary fallback in the Seattle pen. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:01 pm

  • Hunter Brown strikes out nine against Mariners
Hunter Brown limited the Mariners to one run over six innings and struck out nine in a no-decision Tuesday.

Advice: The result certainly wasn’t what Houston wanted, but Brown’s outing was awfully encouraging. Boasting maybe his best slider of the year, he got 14 missed swings and topped his previous season high for strikeouts by two. It’s his third quality start and just the second time he’s gone without allowing a walk. In truth, it was a strong enough showing to make him worth considering in mixed leagues in which he’s been dropped. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:01 pm
  • Ryan Pressly takes fourth blown save, second loss
Ryan Pressly took his fourth blown save and second loss after giving up three runs — two earned — in the eighth inning Tuesday against the Mariners.

Advice: Pressly’s velocity is down some, but his peripherals remain strong. Nevertheless, he’s sporting a 5.31 ERA at the moment. He’s given up half as many hits (27) in 20 1/3 innings this year that he did in 65 1/3 innings last season (54). If the Astros ever do lose Josh Hader for a time, they might have to turn to Bryan Abreu over Pressly in the closer’s role. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:00 pm
  • Iván Herrera has three hits in win over Reds
Iván Herrera went 3-for-5 with an RBI in a win over the Reds on Tuesday.

Advice: The 23-year-old has taken over as the Cardinals’ starting catcher after the Willson Contreras injury and was also hitting clean-up on Tuesday. Nothing Herrera hit was over 84 mph on the day, but a hit is a hit in the box score. He now has a .276/.344/.362 triple slash with 16 RBI and will continue to be worth rostering in two-catcher formats while Contreras is out. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:32 pm
  • Giants summon Spencer Howard on Tuesday
Giants selected the contract of RHP Spencer Howard from Triple-A Sacramento.

Advice: Howard will likely factor into San Francisco’s pitching plan for Tuesday’s contest against the Phillies as a bulk reliever. The 27-year-old righty will be making his season debut after re-signing with the Giants last September on a minor league pact. The former notable pitching prospect has made 38 appearances (29 starts) in the big leagues dating back to 2020. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:57 pm
  • Promoted, likely to pitch Tuesday
The Giants selected Howard's contract from Triple-A Sacramento, and he's expected to serve as the primary pitcher Tuesday against the Phillies, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Erik Miller is starting Tuesday's contest for the Giants, and Howard is expected to see some bulk innings behind the opener. Howard has showcased his swing-and-miss stuff at Triple-A Sacramento this season with a 13.1 K/9, but his 5.90 ERA and 1.56 WHIP over 39.2 innings are otherwise underwhelming.
