    • Set for season-ending wrist surgery
Encarnacion-Strand will undergo surgery on his right wrist July 11, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The recovery is expected to take three months, effectively ending Encarnacion-Strand's 2024 season. He initially went on the injured list back in early May with a right ulnar styloid fracture, but subsequent testing revealed ligament damage, which he'll need surgery to address. Encarnacion-Strand's season will conclude with him having slashed only .190/.220/.293 with two home runs in 29 games. Rotowire.com Today, 1:28 pm
    • CES set to undergo season-ending hand surgery
Christian Encarnacion-Strand will undergo season-ending right hand surgery on July 11.

Advice: Encarnacion-Strand has been out since late April after suffering ligament damage in his right hand when he was hit by a pitch. The 24-year-old slugger’s decision to undergo surgery to repair a ulnar styloid fracture on the inside of his hand near his wrist, will keep him sidelined until early October, and is basically going to end his season. He can be safely dropped in all re-draft formats, but is obviously worth stashing in all keeper and dynasty league formats. It’s unclear how he’ll rebound next year after ostensibly missing an entire season due to injury. Rotoworld Today, 1:22 pm
    • Continues piping hot June
Santana went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, double and an additional run scored Thursday against the Rays.

Advice: Santana extended his modest hit streak to six games and posted his second three-hit game of the season while blasting his 12th home run Thursday. The 38-year-old has found the fountain of youth in June, going 20-for-55 (.364) with four homers, five doubles, 15 RBI, 10 runs and a couple of steals through 16 games this month. • Carlos Santana homers, gets three hits in loss
Carlos Santana went 3-for-5 with a homer in a loss to the Rays on Thursday in extra-innings.

Advice: Santana’s homer made it 6-3 in the ninth, and Minnesota scored three more runs to take the game into extras before falling. The 38-year-old has gone deep 12 times, and while he hasn’t helped much in the average category (.247), he’s been a solid power-producer; particularly since scuffling over the first three weeks. • Idle Tuesday
Santana is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rays.

Advice: Santana will get the day off Tuesday after making five consecutive starts at first base. Jose Miranda will fill in for Santana at first and bat sixth. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 1:27 pm

    • Goes deep in loss
Turner went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a double, two runs scored and a walk in Monday's loss to Boston.

Advice: Turner scored Toronto's first run after drawing a walk in the second inning. He later ripped a solo shot in the sixth inning for his fifth home run of the year. He snapped a 33-game homerless drought, during which he slashed .155/.250/.191. Turner now owns a .691 OPS with 18 extra-base hits and 24 runs scored through 233 plate appearances. • Reds’ Christian Encarnacion-Strand to 60-day IL
Reds transferred 3B Christian Encarnacion-Strand from the 10-day to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: There still hasn’t been any word on whether CES will opt for season-ending surgery on his right hand. This officially rules him out until July 7, but there was no chance of him returning prior to the break anyway. Rotoworld Jun 17, 1:11 pm
    • Shifts to 60-day IL
The Reds transferred Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday.

Advice: Encarnacion-Strand had been on the IL since May 8 with a right ulnar styloid fracture and wasn't expected to begin a rehab assignment anytime soon, so the move to the 60-day IL won't affect his eventual timeline for a return. According to Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer, manager David Bell reiterated Monday that Encarnacion-Strand remains in a bit of a holding pattern in his recovery from the injury. After he had been expected to increase his activity earlier this month, Encarnacion-Strand's rehab progression was put on pause when he sought a second opinion on his wrist from a specialist, who determined that the 24-year-old was dealing with ligament damage. Bell said that the Reds will wait a few more days to see how Encarnacion-Strand's wrist responds to rest before a determination is made on his next step, which could include anything from resuming baseball activities to going under the knife for season-ending surgery. • Homer, steal in day game
Santana went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and a stolen base in a 6-2 win over the Athletics in Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader.

Advice: Santana also went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run scored in the nightcap. The first baseman is batting .326 (15-for-46) with three homers and two steals over 13 contests in June, a stretch that's helped him claim a starting role at first base since Alex Kirilloff was optioned to Triple-A St. Paul. Santana is at a .235/.316/.425 slash line with 11 homers, 36 RBI, 26 runs scored and two steals through 66 games this season. Rotowire.com Jun 16, 8:45 pm
