    • Max Kepler dealing with elbow soreness
Max Kepler is day-to-day with elbow soreness.

Advice: Kepler managed to stay in Friday’s extra-inning marathon against the Athletics, eventually delivering the game-winning hit, after being hit by a pitch in the elbow earlier in the contest. He’ll benefit from Saturday’s rainout by getting some extra time to rest and recover. It’s possible he’ll be ready for the opening contest of Sunday’s doubleheader at Target Field. • Nursing injured elbow
Kepler is absent from Saturday's lineup against the Athletics due to a sore elbow, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Advice: Kepler was hit by a pitch on the elbow Friday, and according to manager Rocco Baldelli, the outfielder is sore and dealing with some stiffness. Baldelli said that Kepler will probably "need a day or two," but the injury isn't considered to be a long-term concern. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:01 am

    • Breather Saturday
Kepler is not in the starting lineup Saturday versus the Athletics.

Advice: Kepler will take a seat after he went 4-for-7 with a home run, four RBI and two runs scored over the first two games of the series. Trevor Larnach will slide over to right field while Austin Martin enters the lineup in left field and bats ninth against Oakland. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:48 am

    • Jack Flaherty starting Saturday against Astros
Jack Flaherty (back) will start on Saturday against the Astros.

Advice: As expected, Flaherty will take the ball this weekend against Houston’s high-powered offense after receiving a couple extra days of rest to address a back issue that cropped up during his previous start on June 4 against the Rangers. The 28-year-old righty has been magnificent this season in his Tigers debut and will aim to keep things rolling in this one. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:22 am
    • Homers, drives in four
Kepler went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in Friday's win over Oakland.

Advice: Kepler did most of his damage with a three-run shot in the sixth inning but later delivered a clutch walk-off single in the 10th. He entered Friday's game with a .398 OPS in 11 games this month and the home run was his first since May 22. Kepler is now slashing .263/.326/.433 with 19 extra-base knocks and 27 RBI through 190 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:02 am

    • Wild in win
Anderson (6-6) allowed one run on five hits and five walks while striking out five over 5.1 innings to earn the win over the Giants on Friday.

Advice: Anderson once again put on a master class in run prevention -- he's allowed multiple walks in five of his last six starts, but he hasn't given up more than one run in any of those outings. He's now at a 3.9 BB/9 this season, which means he's flirting with danger more often than not despite his excellent 2.58 ERA and passable 1.19 WHIP. He's also managed a 6.0 K/9 across 87.1 innings, which is the lowest strikeout rate of his career. Anderson is lined up to make his next start at home versus the Brewers, a tough test despite his recent success. Rotowire.com Friday, 10:55 pm
    • Deployed in eighth inning
Munoz walked one and struck out three in a scoreless and hitless eighth inning to earn a hold in Friday's 3-2 win over the Rangers.

Advice: Munoz has been dealing with a back issue for most of June so far, but he's still seen high-leverage work when available. The right-hander was deployed in the eighth inning Friday against the top of the Rangers' lineup, while Ryne Stanek got the call in the ninth and earned the save. Munoz has picked up three holds and a loss over his last four outings, but it seems this is less about his injury and more about a matchups-based approach to the late innings by manager Scott Servais. Munoz has a 1.55 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 41:10 K:BB with 12 saves and six holds through 29 innings this season. Rotowire.com Friday, 10:32 pm

    • Jackson Chourios knocks in two against Reds
Jackson Chourio singled twice and knocked in two runs against the Reds on Friday.

Advice: Chourio would surely be back in the minors at this point if he hadn’t signed a long-term deal this spring, but it’s not like he’s embarrassing himself with a .229/.280/.365 line as a 20-year-old in a season in which offense has been hard to come by. His long-term outlook hasn’t diminished at all, even if he still doesn’t seem like a very good bet in mixed leagues over the rest of 2024. Rotoworld Friday, 10:24 pm

    • Tyler Anderson works around five walks for win
Tyler Anderson gave up just one run in 5 1/3 innings to get a win over the Giants on Friday.

Advice: Anderson struck out five, but he also allowed five hits and five walks. The 34-year-old threw just 59-of-105 pitches for strikes, and while there were some questionable calls, it’s fair to say that he didn’t have his best command. Still, he was able to get the job done as he has for the overwhelming majority of 2024, and this outing lowers his ERA to 2.58. Assuming he’s still a member of the Angels, he’s scheduled to face the Brewers next week. Rotoworld Friday, 10:17 pm
