      Rays RHP prospect Shane Baz struck out six over three scoreless innings on Thursday for Triple-A Durham.

      Advice: Baz averaged 96.5 mph on his four-seam fastball, which generated seven swinging strikes in this one, and needed just 70 pitches to navigate three frames. He gave up four hits and also issued three walks. The 25-year-old top pitching prospect has recorded 24 strikeouts over his last three starts since June 8. It’s time.       Anderson (6-7) allowed one run on four hits and three walks while striking out five over seven innings to take the loss versus the Brewers on Wednesday.

      Advice: Anderson held an opponent to one run for the sixth time in his last seven starts, but a lack of run support from the Angels stuck him with another loss. In that seven-start span, he's walked at least three batters four times and hasn't struck out more than five batters in any outing. The southpaw is at a 2.48 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 63:41 K:BB through 94.1 innings through 15 starts this year. Anderson is projected to make his next start at home versus the Athletics.     • Tyler Anderson goes seven strong in loss to Brewers
      Tyler Anderson held the Brewers to one run with five strikeouts over seven innings in a loss on Wednesday.

      Advice: Anderson would take a tough-luck loss in this one as the Angels could get him no run support against Freddy Peralta. He allowed just one run on a sacrifice fly in the first inning before settling in for six more scoreless frames, striking out five. The 34-year-old left-hander will take a 2.48 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and a 63/41 K/BB ratio across 94 1/3 innings into a start against the Athletics in Anaheim on Wednesday.       Irvin (5-6) took the loss Tuesday as the Nationals fell 5-0 to the Diamondbacks, giving up four runs on eight hits and four walks over five innings. He struck out two.

      Advice: A lack of offensive support gave the right-hander no margin for error, but Irvin did himself no favors by tossing first-pitch strikes to only 11 of the 22 batters he faced and issuing a season high in free passes. In fact, the 27-year-old hadn't walked more than two batters in any 2024 start prior to Tuesday. Irvin will take a 3.24 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 71:19 K:BB through 86 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road this weekend in Coors Field.       Nola didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against the Padres, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out six.

      Advice: Nola held San Diego scoreless through his first five innings before ultimately allowing three runs in the sixth, including a pair on a Luis Campusano homer. Still, it was a solid bounce-back outing overall for the 31-year-old Nola, who was tagged for eight runs in his last start against the Red Sox. Nola's 8-3 on the year with a 3.54 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 84:25 K:BB across 15 starts (94 innings). He's currently lined up to face the Tigers on the road early next week in his next outing.       Munoz earned the save Tuesday in an 8-5 win over Cleveland, allowing one hit while striking out one over 1.2 innings.

      Advice: The Mariners turned to Munoz after Trent Thornton loaded the bases in the eighth. Munoz would proceed to coax a pair of groundouts to get out of the inning before turning in a scoreless ninth, earning his 13th save of the campaign and his third of four or more outs.     • Aaron Nola pitches fine in no decison
      Aaron Nola allowed three runs on four hits in six innings in a no-decision against the Padres.

      Advice: Nola struck out six and walked just one on the day while posting just 11 whiffs on 51 swings for a 22 percent whiff rate and 24 percent CSW. The curve was the only pitch that really got swings-and-misses for Nola on Tuesday, but it was enough to stifle the Padres offense.     • Andrés Muñoz locks down save in win
      Andrés Muñoz pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings to lock down the Mariners’ 8-5 win over the Guardians on Tuesday.

      Advice: The Mariners brought Muñoz in with the bases loaded with one out in the eighth inning and the Mariners up by four runs. He got a groundout which allowed one run to score but then induced another groundout to end the threat. The 25-year-old has battled through back injuries all season but still has a 1.47 ERA and now has 13 saves. The biggest threat to his value appears to simply be that the Mariners have no problem bringing him in before the ninth inning which will sometimes prevent him from earning saves.     • Irvin gives up four runs in loss to Diamondbacks
      Jake Irvin allowed four earned runs on eight hits over five innings while striking out two in Tuesday’s loss to the Diamondbacks.

      Advice: Irvin allowed the first three batters he faced to reach base, but it was the two-run homer by Ketel Marte that put him in a hole early. Irvin would go on to pitch two scoreless innings before surrendering two more runs in the fifth, which would be his final inning. It was just the second time this year that Irvin has allowed four or more runs in an outing, as he’s been one of the core members of a Nationals rotation that has surprised in the first half of the season.
