    • Javier Assad gives up four runs in loss to Mets
      Javier Assad wasn’t at his best in Sunday’s loss to the Mets, surrendering four runs on seven hits across his 4 1/3 innings of work.

      Advice: Assad walked one batter on the evening and did not record a single strikeout. Most of the damage done against him came via the long ball, as Francisco Lindor crushed a two-run homer in the third inning and Brandon Nimmo followed with a solo shot. The Mets also scratched out a run while chasing Assad in the fifth. Assad got just three swings and misses on 90 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 26 percent. He’ll attempt to bounce back as he carries a 3.04 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and a 79/33 K/BB ratio (83 innings) into Friday’s battle against the Brewers in Milwaukee. Rotoworld Sunday, 7:21 pm
       
    • Max Fried keeps Yankees bats at bay
      Max Fried allowed one run on six hits in six innings in a win over the Yankees on Sunday.

      Advice: It wasn’t a dominant outing for the left-hander, but he allowed just one extra-base hit all day and was able to pitch his way out of any trouble that he found himself in. He induced just seven whiffs on 39 swings for an 18 percent whiff rate and 26 percent CSW, but that’s a pretty solid day against a good Yankees lineup.     • Paul Skenes strong for seven against Rays
      Paul Skenes was uninvolved in the decision Sunday after allowing one run in seven innings and striking out eight against the Rays.

      Advice: The homer off the bat of Yandy Díaz led off the game. The Rays had no further luck, though, at least not until Skenes left the game to begin the eighth. It’s the first time in eight big-league starts that Skenes has gotten through seven. He still hasn’t taken a loss, and his ERA stands at 2.14. Rotoworld Sunday, 2:14 pm
       
    • Picks up seventh win
      Fried improved to 7-3 on the season in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Yankees, striking out four while allowing one run on six hits and no walks over six innings.

      Advice: Fried kept the Yankees off the board until a solo run crossed in the sixth on an Anthony Volpe double. Three of the six hits Fried allowed came during the sixth, but a timely double play ended the inning and kept Fried in line for his seventh win. Fried has now turned in eight quality starts through 15 outing, and in seventh of those starts, he's gone at least six innings while allowing no more than one earned run. He's currently scheduled to next toe the rubber against Pittsburgh when the Pirates head to Atlanta for a weekend set. Rotowire.com Sunday, 1:49 pm
       
    • Max Fried stellar against Yankees in win
      Max Fried shut the Yankees out over six innings in a 3-1 win on Sunday. He struck out four without walking a batter.

      Advice: Fried was great in this and kept the Yankees off-balance by mixing all five of his pitches. He didn’t throw one individual offering more than 30% of the time and was adept at varying his four-seam fastball, sinker, and curveball early in counts. He’s as steady and stable as they come.     • Tosses career-high seven innings
      Skenes did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing one run on six hits and a walk over seven innings against the Rays. He struck out eight.

      Advice: Skenes got off to a bit of a rough start, allowing two extra-base hits on his first four pitches, including a leadoff homer to Yandy Diaz on the first pitch of the game, but Skenes did not allow another run for the rest of his outing. The first overall pick in the 2023 Draft continues to dominate even as his workload increases, as he struck out eight over a career-high seven innings. He's now allowed just two earned runs and has struck out 23 over his last three starts spanning 19.1 innings. He also continues to display impressive control, having not walked more than one batter during any game since walking two in his first career start May 11.       Gray (3-3) picked up the win Saturday, allowing two hits over six scoreless innings in a 6-0 victory over the Royals. He struck out three.

      Advice: Both hits were third-inning singles, but Gray shut down the rally and proceeded to retire the final 10 batters he faced before exiting. The right-hander tossed 72 pitches (51 strikes) en route to his sixth quality start of the season, but Saturday marked the first time he'd lasted at least six innings in a start since May 15. Gray will take a 3.03 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 68:19 K:BB through 71.1 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road next weekend in Baltimore. Rotowire.com Sunday, 5:24 am

    • Gray tosses six shutout innings, gets third win
      Jon Gray threw six shutout innings and got the win in the Rangers’ 6-0 victory over the Royals on Saturday.

      Advice: Gray gave up two hits, walked none and struck out three. It was a necessary bounce back start for Gray after he allowed nine earned runs in his last start against the Mets. It was just his third win of the season and first since May 15th. He lowered his ERA to 3.03 on the season. The 32-year-old right-hander is set to face the Orioles on the road next weekend.       Gray will start Saturday's game against the Royals, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: Gray was scheduled to throw Monday at Milwaukee on seven days rest, but he'll have his start bumped up to Saturday to give Max Scherzer (thumb/back) extra rest. Gray had surrendered two or fewer runs in 12 consecutive starts before being rocked for nine runs in three innings against the Mets on Monday.
