Jesus Luzardo (back) won’t start for the Marlins on Saturday, according to Daniel Alvarez-Montes.
Advice: Luzardo has dealt with back stiffness and will miss his scheduled start on Saturday. It’s yet to be determined if Luzardo is just having his start pushed back or if he’ll require a stint on the injured list. Rotoworld23 minutes ago
Luzardo (back) won't start Saturday's game against the Mariners, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.
Advice: Luzardo experienced back tightness in his last start and was pulled after 77 pitches and showed decreased velocity. While the Marlins initially listed Luzardo as their probable pitcher Saturday, they'll refrain from putting the 26-year-old lefty on the mound against Seattle and give him some extra rest. Miami could possibly push Luzardo's start back a day, with Braxton Garrett filling in Saturday, but it's more likely Luzardo won't pitch until his next turn in the rotation. Merrill went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 7-6 win over Milwaukee on Thursday.
Advice: Merrill hit the second of back-to-back homers with Manny Machado in the first inning to give San Diego an early lead. The long ball was the second in as many days for Merrill, who has surged in the power department of late, with six of his nine homers on the campaign coming over his past eight games. All six of those long balls have been of the solo variety, but it's still a positive development for Merrill's fantasy managers after he went deep just three times over his first 68 games. Tatis went 4-for-5 with a solo homer and a second run scored in Thursday's win over the Brewers.
Advice: Tatis recorded hits in each of his first four trips to the plate, including a home run in the bottom of the fifth to extend San Diego's lead to 5-3. It was the star outfielder's 14th long ball on the campaign and his fifth this month, during which he's now batting .370 with seven RBI, two stolen bases and 13 runs scored. It also marked Tatis' second four-hit performance this season, both of which have come in June. Rotowire.comToday, 7:47 am
Yankees manager Aaron Boone doesn’t expect Gleyber Torres’ groin injury to be anything major, according to the New York Daily News.
Advice: Torres left Thursday’s game against the Orioles with the injury, but the good news is the Yankees skipper isn’t anticipating a major injury. Expect Torres to stay off the injured list and return to the Yankees’ lineup over the weekend. RotoworldToday, 5:43 am
Smith went 1-for-5 with a solo home run against Colorado in Thursday's 5-3 victory.
Advice: Smith hit one of three Los Angeles long balls Thursday, bashing a 451-foot solo shot to center field in the fourth inning. It was the catcher's 11th home run of the campaign, which leads NL backstops. Across the majors, only three catchers have more homers than Smith this season, and only two (Adley Rutschman and William Contreras) have topped Smith's 45 RBI. Rotowire.comYesterday, 11:29 pm
Fernando Tatis Jr. went 4-for-5 with a homer versus the Brewers in Thursday’s victory.
Advice: Tatis had the two hardest-hit balls in the game with his 112-mph homer and 111-mph single. It’s been a month since his last multi-RBI game on May 19, but that’s not really his fault. RotoworldYesterday, 11:17 pm
Alvarez went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in a 5-3 win against the White Sox on Thursday.
Advice: Alvarez missed Houston's previous two games due to a family matter, but he wasted little time getting back into the swing of things upon his return, smashing a 439-foot solo shot in the first frame Thursday. The slugger added an RBI single in a four-run Astros seventh inning that paved the way to victory. Alvarez's homer Thursday was his 15th of the season, putting him at the halfway point of reaching 30 long balls for the fourth straight campaign. Rotowire.comYesterday, 10:59 pm
Diaz went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run Thursday against the Twins.
Advice: Diaz collected two hits, including his fifth homer of the season, to extend his hitting streak to 13 games and his on-base streak to 22 games. He's batting .351 over the course of the hit streak, though he has just one home run, one double, four RBI and six runs scored to show for his efforts. Rotowire.comYesterday, 9:15 pm
