    Walker Buehler allowed three runs -- two earned -- with two strikeouts over five innings in a loss to the Rangers on Wednesday.

    Advice: Buehler had worked through four scoreless innings against the Rangers before serving up a three-run homer to Corey Seager to put Texas on top. Buehler scattered seven hits and one walk, striking out two batters. The 29-year-old right-hander has posted a 4.64 ERA, 1.48 WHIP, and a 29/9 K/BB ratio across 33 innings.     Doval earned the save Wednesday against the Astros, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning.

    Advice: It didn't come easy for Bassitt, as he had to contend with the bases loaded in both the first and fourth innings, though he'd manage to escape unscathed. After a shaky start to the year, the 35-year-old Bassitt's been solid since the start of May, pitching to a 2.25 ERA over his last eight outings. Overall, he's 6-6 with a 3.56 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 75:32 K:BB across 78.1 innings this season. Bassitt is currently in line to face the Red Sox at home in his next outing.     Neris earned a save against Tampa Bay on Wednesday, allowing one run on two hits and a walk with no strikeouts.

    Advice: Entering with a 4-2 lead in the ninth inning, Neris surrendered a solo home run to Jose Caballero and then allowed a single and a walk before retiring Yandy Diaz and Brandon Lowe to escape with the save. This wasn't the most encouraging outing after Neris yielded four runs in a blown save Tuesday night, but manager Craig Counsell showed his faith in Neris as the team's closer by relying on him again Wednesday.     Héctor Neris picked up his 10th save despite giving up a solo homer in the ninth Wednesday against the Rays.

    Advice: The Cubs got Neris right back in there after he gave up four runs in taking a blown save and a loss Tuesday, and he got the job done, though not before allowing a homer for the second straight night.   • Camilo Doval quiets Astros to collect 12th save
    Camilo Doval tossed a perfect ninth inning on Wednesday against the Astros to collect his 12th save of the season.

    Advice: Doval was tasked with protecting a two-run lead and needed only nine pitches (eight strikes) to slam the door. The hard-throwing 26-year-old stopper has reeled off four consecutive scoreless appearances since June 7 and converted 12 of his 14 save opportunities this season.   • Chris Bassitt settles for no-decision vs. Brewers
    Chris Bassitt hurled five shutout innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Brewers.

    Advice: Bassitt departed in line for the win after striking out five and scattering five hits and four walks over five frames, but Toronto’s bullpen was unable to hold on. The 35-year-old veteran righty has been on a roll over the last few weeks, allowing three earned runs or fewer in eight consecutive starts since May 1.   • Stuck with loss in quality start
    Crawford (2-6) took the loss Tuesday, giving up four runs (two earned) on six hits and a walk over six innings as the Red Sox fell 4-1 to the Phillies. He struck out eight.

    Advice: The right-hander got very little support from his offense or defense, but the difference in the game was the two solo shots Crawford served up to Kyle Schwarber. The quality start was Crawford's sixth of the season, but his first in over a month, while the eight Ks were a season high. Since beating the Giants on May 1, he's gone 0-5 in seven starts with a 5.40 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 39:12 K:BB in 40 innings.     Bednar picked up the save Tuesday against St. Louis, allowing a solo home run and a walk with two strikeouts during the ninth inning.

    Advice: Bednar took the mound with the Pirates ahead by two and yielded a homer to Nolan Gorman to kick off the ninth. While he retired Nolan Arenado and Brendan Donovan back-to-back, Bednar walked Jose Fermin and a catcher's interference put runners on first and second. However, Bednar avoided disaster, striking out Mike Siani to complete his 14th save. Although he owns a 5.40 ERA, Bednar ranks eighth in saves and owns a 30:7 K:BB across 28.1 innings.
