  • Earns another win
    Bassitt (6-6) picked up the win Sunday, allowing three runs on eight hits and a walk over five innings against the Pirates. He struck out seven.

    Advice: Bassitt didn't seem to be held back at all after leaving his previous start with neck spasms, tossing 100 pitches Sunday and picking up his third straight victory. The 35-year-old has been part of the decision in all 12 of his starts this season and hasn't yielded more than three runs in an outing since April 26.   • Fans eight in no-decision
    Pfaadt (2-4) came away with a no-decision Sunday against the Mets, allowing four earned runs on five hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out eight.

    Advice: Pfaadt was solid in this one outside of a rough third inning in which he allowed all four of his earned runs courtesy of back-to-back triples. The 25-year-old right-hander has now pitched six or more innings in seven consecutive starts and has yet to pitch less than five innings in any start this season. The second-year pro has been inconsistent, pitching to a 4.32 ERA but his 5.1 K/BB and 1.08 WHIP highlight his ability to miss bats.   • Crumbles against Yankees
    Doval (2-1) allowed four runs on four hits and two walks in a blown save chance Sunday. He recorded two outs while taking a loss against the Yankees.

    Advice: Doval entered the game with a 5-3 lead in the ninth inning and was quickly jumped by the top of the Yankees' lineup. With one out in the inning, he yielded an RBI triple to Anthony Volpe, a go-ahead, two-run shot to Juan Soto and an RBI double to Giancarlo Stanton. Doval had allowed four earned runs over his previous 15.2 innings before Sunday's ugly outing. His ERA shot up from 2.78 to 4.24 with a 30:17 K:BB through 23.1 frames.   • Exits early with hamstring injury
    Marsh suffered a right hamstring strain and was removed from Sunday's contest with the Cardinals in the bottom of the eighth inning, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

    Advice: Marsh notched a single off of reliever Andrew Kittredge to open the bottom of the eighth, leaving the game after advancing to second base on a base knock from Nick Castellanos.   • Brandon Marsh diagnosed with hamstring strain
    The Phillies announced that Brandon Marsh was pulled from Sunday’s game against the Cardinals due to a right hamstring strain.

    Advice: The 26-year-old outfielder suffered the injury while running the bases in the eighth inning on Sunday. He’ll head for further evaluation to determine the severity of the strain. Expect the Phillies to provide an update on his status on Monday. Fantasy managers who are relying on Marsh for next week should be sure to have a contingency plan in place.   • Brandon Marsh leaves game Sunday with leg injury
    Brandon Marsh was removed from Sunday night’s battle against the Cardinals in the eighth inning due to an apparent leg injury.

    Advice: Marsh rounded second base and wanted to turn on the jets to go to third, but pulled up lame and had to hobble back into second base. It’s unclear if it was a hamstring or some sort of knee issue, though he was able to walk off the field under his own power. He’ll head for further evaluation.   • Camilo Doval suffers blown save against Yankees
    Camilo Doval suffered a brutal blown save on Sunday afternoon against the Yankees, giving up four runs on four hits in 2/3 of an inning.

    Advice: Oof. The right-hander came on with a 5-3 lead to protect, but things got away from him in a hurry. Gleyber Torres started the inning with a single, then Anthony Volpe smacked a one-out RBI triple that narrowed the gap. Juan Soto then clobbered a go-ahead two-run homer to give the Yankees the lead. Doval kept fighting though, issuing a walk to Aaron Judge, an RBI double to Giancarlo Stanton and a walk to Alex Verdugo before uncorking a wild pitch that advanced both runners. He rallied to punch out DJ LeMahieu though before turning the ball over to Taylor Rogers to get the final out. He’s still locked in as the Giants’ closer, but his 4.24 ERA is no longer looking as spectacular and another blowup or two and Giants’ manager Bob Melvin may want to go another direction.     Caballero went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and two runs scored Sunday against the Orioles.

    Advice: Caballero belted the first pitch of the seventh inning over the left-field wall for his third homer of the year. It was also his second hit of the day, representing his ninth multi-hit game in 54 games this season.   • Chris Bassitt strikes out seven in win
    Chris Bassitt struck out seven across five innings in a 5-4 win over the Pirates on Sunday. He allowed three earned runs and walked one while securing the win.

    Advice: Bassitt was able to navigate nine Pirates base runners to keep just enough runs off the board and earn his sixth win of the season. This was his third straight win in as many starts as he’s put a poor April in the rear view mirror and pitched much more like the ultra-steady Bassitt we’ve come to expect.
