• Swats clutch homer
Rodriguez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Thursday in an extra-inning loss to the White Sox.

Advice: Rodriguez was hitless in his first three at-bats but came up big in his fourth trip to the plate, smashing a game-tying solo shot in the bottom of the ninth inning. The long ball was just his second across 17 contests since he went deep in back-to-back games May 25-26. Rodriguez has 16 thefts this season but has been fairly disappointing otherwise with just six homers, 26 RBI, 34 runs and a .268/.317/.354 slash line through 300 plate appearances. • Secures win Thursday
McArthur (3-3) allowed a hit and struck out one in a scoreless inning to earn the win over the Yankees on Thursday.

Advice: McArthur rebounded from his previous outing, which saw him take the loss versus the Mariners on Sunday after allowing three runs (two earned) in two-thirds of an inning. He's kept runs off the board in four of his five outings in June, but he has just one save this month. For the year, he's at a 5.08 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 25:5 K:BB over 28.1 innings while converting 12 of his 16 save opportunities as the Royals' primary closer. Rotowire.com Today, 12:09 am
  • J-Rod hits game-tying homer in ninth vs. White Sox
Julio Rodríguez hit a game-tying homer in the ninth inning against the White Sox, but the Mariners fell to Chicago in extra-innings.

Advice: With the Mariners trailing 2-1, J-Rod obliterated a Michael Kopech fastball to right-center field that tied the game at 2-2. The outfielder now has six homers on the season; a disappointing total for a player who many (justifiably) thought would be among the league leaders in 2024. Anyone who saw his swing tonight knows that he’s capable of — and likely going to — doing much more going forward. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:23 pm
  • Diaz has two hits in win over Cubs Thursday
Yandy Diaz went 2-for-4 with an RBI against the Cubs on Thursday.

Advice: Diaz’ RBI single was the difference in the 3-2 Rays win. The defending batting champion in the American League is heating up at the plate. He’s now 17-for-50 (.340) in his last 12 games to get his average up to .260 on the season.

  • Rips walk-off double
Garcia went 1-for-4 with a double, two RBI, a run and walk in Thursday's 4-3 win versus the Yankees.

Advice: Garcia came up with two on and two out in the ninth and took a Clay Holmes sinker down the left-field line to win it for Kansas City. The 24-year-old third baseman entered the game in a bit of a slump during June with just one RBI and a .159 average in 40 at-bats. Garcia continues to provide a spark for the Royals this season with his solid counting stats, as he now has 18 extra-base hits and 38 RBI with 16 stolen bases through 68 games. • Maikel Garcia delivers game-winner for Royals
Maikel Garcia delivered a two-run double with two outs in the ninth to give the Royals a 4-3 win over the Yankees on Thursday.

Advice: Garcia hasn’t hit quite as well as we expected, but he has 38 RBI anyway, mostly because his average is over 100 points higher with runners on than with the bases empty. Between that, his 45 runs scored in the leadoff spot and his 16 steals, he’s been an odd, three-category wonder so far. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:27 pm

  • Absent from lineup
Swanson is not in the lineup for Thursday's game in Tampa Bay.

Advice: It looks to be a simple day of rest for Swanson, who had started each of the previous 20 contests. Nico Hoerner will shift over to shortstop and Michael Busch will handle second base for the Cubs. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:28 pm

  • On verge of rehab assignment
Polanco (hamstring) is slated to run the bases before Thursday's game against the White Sox and then head out on a rehab assignment, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.

Advice: Polanco has been progressively ramping up his level of activity in recent days, apparently without any setbacks. MLB.com reports that general manager Justin Hollander indicated team trainers would jointly assess Polanco's condition with the veteran infielder following Thursday's activity, at which point the length of the rehab assignment would likely be determined. • Collects another win
Suarez (4-0) picked up the win in Wednesday's 5-4 victory over the A's, giving up a hit in a scoreless ninth inning and striking out one.

Advice: For the second straight game, Suarez benefited from a Padres walk-off homer, with Wednesday's coming off the bat of Jackson Merrill. The right-hander has been tagged for a run in only one of his 26 appearances since the beginning of April, and on the season Suarez sports a sparkling 0.61 ERA, 0.68 WHIP and 28:6 K:BB through 29.1 innings.
