• Jordan Walker batting .328 at Triple-A Memphis
Jordan Walker went 2-for-4 with an RBI on Friday for Triple-A Memphis.

Advice: Just like that, Walker is batting .328 (19-for-58) with zero homers and two steals in 15 contests since being jettisoned to the minors back in late April following a brutal stretch at the dish to open the season. It’s easy to forget that Walker is still just 21 years old and still finding his footing at the highest level. He was an impact fantasy contributor last year when he returned from an early-season demotion and appears to be following a similar track this time around as well. Rotoworld Today, 3:25 am

  • White Sox outright Rafael Ortega to Triple-A
White Sox sent OF Rafael Ortega outright to Triple-A Charlotte.

Advice: Ortega went unclaimed after being placed on waivers earlier this week. The 33-year-old veteran outfielder went 1-for-14 with a pair of stolen bases in 14 contests this season for the White Sox. Rotoworld Today, 3:20 am
  • Lars Nootbaar leads Cardinals past Red Sox
Lars Nootbaar homered, walked twice and scored three runs as the Cardinals bested the Red Sox 10-6 on Friday.

Advice: The Cardinals offense is bad, but Nootbaar is good, and the decision to drop him to the bottom of the order earlier this month was yet another poor one from Oli Marmol. Fortunately, Nootbaar is back batting second versus righties now. The homer was his fourth in 131 plate appearances. He’s hitting .300 with three homers and a 6/10 K/BB in his last nine games. • Willie Calhoun goes 4-for-5 against former team
Willie Calhoun went 4-for-5 with an RBI against the Rangers on Friday.

Advice: Calhoun’s combination of solid exit velocities and excellent strikeout rates has never paid much in the way of dividends, but when it was least expected, he’s popped off with a .365/.382/.577 line in 55 plate appearances for the Angels this season. With limited home run power and zero speed, he still doesn’t figure to be very useful for fantasy purposes going forward. However, he might remain a perfectly solid DH for the Angels. • Homers in consecutive games
Beck went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 10-5 loss to the Giants.

Advice: Beck has now homered in back-to-back games, and he's gone 8-for-23 (.348) during a six-game hitting streak. The outfield prospect was known for his power in the minors, but it took a little time for him to click in the majors. He's now hitting .236 with two homers, seven RBI, four runs scored, a stolen base and two doubles over 55 plate appearances. Beck may be running out of time to make an impression with the Rockies, as Nolan Jones (back) started a rehab assignment Wednesday and could return soon. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:05 pm
  • Five RBI in win
Matos went 3-for-5 with two doubles and five RBI in Friday's 10-5 win over the Rockies.

Advice: Matos enjoyed one of the best games of his career, driving in at least a run with each of his hits. He added an RBI on a groundout in the seventh inning as well. The 22-year-old is hitting .333 (7-for-21) with 11 RBI and three extra-base hits over his first six contests this season. With Jung Hoo Lee (shoulder) out for the year, Matos has a golden opportunity to claim a full-time major-league job if he can keep hitting well. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:48 pm

  • Luis Matos brings in five runs in win over Rockies
Luis Matos drove in five runs and collected three hits in a 10-5 win Friday over the Rockies.

Advice: Matos has certainly looked the part since being recalled from the injured list, and Friday was (obviously) no exception. The 22-year-old doubled twice, and the five-RBI night gives him a streak of four-consecutive games with runs driven in. Matos failed in his time with the Giants in 2023, but it’s not a question of talent with the outfielder. He’s worth a speculative add in deeper redraft leagues. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:18 pm

  • Pops homer Friday
Fairchild went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Friday's 7-3 loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Fairchild has driven in a run in each of his last three games. All three of his homers this season have come since April 30, though his playing time remains sporadic as a short-side platoon option all around the outfield. He's slashing a mediocre .213/.292/.350 with 11 RBI, 11 runs scored, five stolen bases and two doubles over 90 plate appearances in 2024. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:13 pm
  • Homers in return
Heyward went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a hit-by-pitch in Friday's 7-3 win over the Reds.

Advice: Heyward returned from a back injury that cost him nearly seven weeks. He delivered a big hit with his eighth-inning blast, which was his first homer in five games this season. The outfielder has added four RBI and four runs scored. Heyward is likely to command at least a strong-side platoon role in right field moving forward, which is one he excelled in with a .269/.340/.473 slash line over 374 plate appearances in 2023.
