  • Jonny DeLuca delivers game-winning triple for Rays
    Jonny DeLuca went 2-for-4 with a game-winning, two-run triple in the bottom of the 10th as the Rays outlasted the Mets 7-6 on Sunday.

    Advice: Harrison Bader was shaded the other way and came up just a little short on a diving attempt for DeLuca’s shot to center in the 10th. The ball that rolled all of the way to the wall, and it might have been an inside-the-park homer if the winning run wasn’t already on base. DeLuca also had an RBI single earlier in the contest. He might be limited to playing mostly against lefties once the Rays get Josh Lowe back, but as is, he’s started three straight games since coming off the IL and gone 3-for-11 with six RBI.   • Jeff McNeil goes 0-for-4 in loss to Rays
    Jeff McNeil went 0-for-4 on Sunday and is 1-for-16 in his last four games.

    Advice: The NL batting champ when he hit .326 in 2022, McNeil slipped to .270 last year and is at .231 right now. Of course, that’s not coming with a lot of power or many walks, either. The Mets aren’t about to take him out of the lineup with any regularity, but perhaps they should cease using him in left field on those days when they decide someone else should play second base.   • Juan Soto propels Yankees past Tigers on Sunday
    Juan Soto delivered a go-ahead three-run double in the seventh inning on Sunday, propelling the Yankees to a 5-2 victory over the Tigers in the Bronx.

    Advice: The Tigers came back with a pair of runs to tie the game in the top half of the seventh inning, but the Yankees’ bats went right back to work in the home half of the frame. They loaded the bases against Shelby Miller with a single and a pair of walks, then Soto greeted Andrew Chafin with a three-run double into right field to put the Bombers back on top to stay.     Aaron Judge went 2-for-3 and launched his seventh home run of the season on Sunday as the Yankees defeated the Tigers.

    Advice: Judge opened the scoring in the contest, crushing a 399-foot (109.3 mph EV) solo shot off of Tigers’ star southpaw Tarik Skubal in the home half of the first inning. He also doubled, drew a walk and struck out in the ballgame. On the season, the 32-year-old superstar is now hitting .220/.350/.439 with seven homers, 20 RBI and two stolen bases.   • Christopher Morel reaches four times in win Sunday
    Christopher Morel singled, drove in a run and drew three walks on Sunday afternoon as the Cubs bested the Brewers.

    Advice: The hot-hitting 24-year-old third baseman capped off the scoring in the contest with a two-out RBI single off of Janson Junk in the seventh inning. He also walked three times in the ballgame, but the Cubs were never able to cash him in.   • Jackson Chourio goes hitless in loss to Cubs
    Jackson Chourio went 0-for-2 and was pinch-hit for in the seventh inning as the Brewers were shut out by the Cubs on Sunday afternoon.

    Advice: The 20-year-old phenom fouled out to first base in the third inning and bounced into a fielder’s choice in the fifth inning. While he has shown flashes of greatness, it has been a struggle overall through his first 30 games — slashing a troublesome .219/.265/.352 with four homers, 13 RBI, six stolen bases and a 35/7 K/BB ratio over 114 plate appearances. It seems like the Brewers are content sticking with him and letting him take his lumps at the big league level, but if the struggles continue at this rate, eventually something may have to give.     Jimenez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Cardinals.

    Advice: Jimenez entered Sunday's matchup without a home run in his last six contests, but he was able to snap that streak with a solo shot, launching his fourth homer of the year in the top of the seventh inning off reliever Giovanny Gallegos. The long ball gave the team a 2-1 lead and the right-hander has now recorded at least one hit in seven of his last nine games, batting .270 with two home runs, five RBI and six runs scored over that stretch.     Grossman went 2-for-3 with a double and a stolen base in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Cardinals.

    Advice: Grossman opened the game with a leadoff double off Matthew Liberatore before ripping a one-out single in the third frame, swiping second base for his second steal of the season. He also added a sacrifice fly off John King in top of the seventh inning, scoring teammate Bryan Ramos for the team's final tally of the game. Grossman has been splitting time with Gavin Sheets in the outfield, starting most often when the team faces a left-hander like Liberatore, but he has now gone 4-for-11 with three doubles, two RBI, a run scored and a stolen base over his last three contests.     Ceddanne Rafaela homered and walked Sunday as the Red Sox snapped the Twins’ 12-game winning streak by prevailing 9-2.

    Advice: Rafaela’s homer was 105.2 mph off the bat and was projected at 398 feet. The 23-year-old clearly possesses sufficient pop, but the approach needs work; he’s swinging at everything and just not making hard contact consistently.
