• Yankees option Ron Marinaccio to Triple-A
Yankees optioned RHP Ron Marinaccio to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Advice: Marinaccio draws the metaphorical short straw with Nick Burdi set to return from the injured list for Friday’s series opener against the Astros. The 28-year-old righty boasts a stellar 1.42 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 10/5 K/BB ratio across 12 2/3 innings (nine appearances) this season in the big leagues. Rotoworld Today, 6:21 pm

  • Optioned to minors
Marinaccio was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes/Barre on Thursday.

Advice: Marinnacio made eight appearances in the majors since being recalled April 13 and posted a 1.42 ERA and 0.79 WHIP with an 10:5 K:BB across 12.2 innings. Despite being effective, he'll head back to the minors to make room for Nick Burdi (hip). Rotowire.com Today, 6:13 pm

  • Josh Hader notches four-out save against Yankees
Josh Hader recorded a four-out save on Thursday against the Yankees.

Advice: Hader came on to record the final out of the eighth inning before heading back out to spin a scoreless ninth inning to collect his fourth save of the season. The 30-year-old lefty has converted four of five save chances in his Astros debut so far to go along with a bloated 5.63 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 25/7 K/BB ratio across 16 innings (16 appearances). There’s zero reason for concern here moving forward as he continues to miss bats at an elite rate. Rotoworld Today, 5:05 pm

  • Ronel Blanco goes 5 2/3 frames to beat Yankees
Ronel Blanco allowed two runs over 5 2/3 innings on Thursday in a win over the Yankees.

Advice: Blanco generated 13 swinging strikes, and finished with five strikeouts, but also battled control issues throghout this one, handing out four free passes as well. He managed to limit New York’s formidable lineup to just a two-run homer by Anthony Volpe into the middle innings, which was enough to hang on for his fourth win of the year. He’ll carry a sparkling 2.23 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 41/20 K/BB ratio across 44 1/3 innings (seven starts) into an extremely favorable matchup on Tuesday against the Athletics. Rotoworld Today, 5:04 pm

  • A’s asking price ‘steep’ in Mason Miller talks
The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reports the Athletics’s asking price for flame-throwing closer Mason Miller is steep.

Advice: Rosenthal adds that a team source indicates no team has come close to meeting Oakland’s astronomical asking price. The 25-year-old starter-turned-closer has been phenomenal this season, with a microscopic 1.10 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and 33/4 K/BB ratio across 16 1/3 innings (13 appearances). It’s entirely possible that no team will come close to coughing up enough prospect capital to make a deal happen, but Miller figures to be at the epicenter of rumors leading up to the trade deadline later this summer. • Daniel Duarte undergoes season-ending surgery
Daniel Duarte underwent season-ending right elbow surgery on Tuesday.

Advice: Duarte is expected to be sidelined for 14-16 months after undergoing UCL revision reconstruction surgery. The 27-year-old righty has a shot at making it back during the later stages of the 2025 campaign. Rotoworld Today, 4:16 pm

  • Ian Gibaut out indefinitely following arm surgery
Ian Gibaut underwent anterior interosseous nerve release surgery on his right arm on Thursday.

Advice: Reds manager David Bell declined to provide a return timetable for Gibaut, telling reporters that the hope is he’ll return at some point this season. There was some uncertainty surrounding the type of procedure the 30-year-old righty would wind up requiring and it ended up being the more invasive anterior nerve release procedure that carries a longer recovery timeline. • Nails down first save
Sewald earned the save in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Reds, striking out two in a perfect ninth inning.

Advice: After allowing a home run to Tyler Stephenson in his season debut, Sewald looked much better in his first save chance Thursday, striking out Will Benson and Stephenson to close out the one-run victory. The 33-year-old Sewald is expected to step back in as Arizona's primary closer after missing the first month of the season with an oblique injury. He recorded 34 saves last year while pitching to a 3.12 ERA in 60.2 innings between Arizona and Seattle. Rotowire.com Today, 3:58 pm
  • Placed on 15-day IL
The Rangers placed Sborz on the 15-day injured list Thursday with a right rotator cuff strain.

Advice: This marks the second time already this season that Sborz has had to spend time on the injured list due to a strained rotator cuff. His first IL stint lasted roughly two-and-a-half weeks, though it's possible the Rangers bring him back slower this time around to minimize the risk of re-injury. A corresponding move will be made ahead of Friday's game against the Rockies. Rotowire.com Today, 2:27 pm
