Cal Raleigh clobbered a three-run homer on Wednesday, leading the Mariners to a 5-2 victory over the Rays.
Advice: Raleigh put Seattle ahead for good in a low-scoring series finale at Tropicana Field by walloping a gargantuan 422-foot dinger to right field off Rays reliever Shawn Armstrong in the sixth inning. It was his lone hit of the contest, but he also drew a pair of walks as well. The 27-year-old backstop remains a liability in the batting average department, but he’s up to 14 big flies already and is on pace for his second consecutive 30-homer campaign. Raleigh went 1-for-2 with a three-run home run and two walks in Wednesday's 5-2 win over Tampa Bay.
Advice: The Mariners had gone scoreless through five until Raleigh connected for the deciding hit of the game. His 14th homer of the season ties him for the MLB lead at the position, tied with Shea Langeliers and Adley Rutschman. Raleigh now has two home runs in his last three games after a stretch in which he hit only one over 29 games. Rotowire.comYesterday, 12:17 pm
Nimmo went 1-for-4 with a walk, a home run, a second run scored and three RBI in Tuesday's win over the Yankees.
Advice: His two-run shot in the fourth inning was the Mets' fourth home run of the night, with all four coming off Gerrit Cole. Nimmo extended his hitting streak to 10 games with the blast, a stretch in which he's slashing .415/.478/.829 with five of his 12 homers on the season. Rotowire.comYesterday, 8:14 am
Smith started at third base and went 1-for-3 with an RBI in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Brewers. He was also hit by a pitch.
Advice: Smith gave the Rangers an early lead in the top of the first inning, but the offense was silenced for the last eight frames. The HBP was his second in as many games and third over the last five; he leads MLB in that category with 12. It was thought Smith's run at third base might come to end this week, but Josh Jung (wrist) experienced a setback and is not expected to return during the Rangers' road trip that ends Sunday in Baltimore. Paredes went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run Tuesday against the Mariners.
Advice: Paredes went yard in the eighth inning to tally his 12th homer of the season and only his second since May 31. He's hit only .229 in that span with nine RBI and six runs scored. Despite the slow stretch, Paredes still has a .821 OPS and .358 wOBA for the season. Rotowire.comTuesday, 10:56 pm
Scott earned the save in Tuesday's 2-1 victory against Kansas City, pitching a scoreless inning while allowing one hit.
Advice: Scott worked around a single yielded to Salvador Perez and subsequent pinch-run stolen base by Dairon Blanco to secure double-digit saves for the third consecutive season. The left-handed closer has been especially stingy since May 1, producing a 0.84 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 23:10 K:BB across 21.1 innings. Scott has blown only two saves in 2024 and is firmly cemented as the closer in Miami. Rotowire.comTuesday, 8:05 pm
Tanner Scott pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save on Tuesday against the Royals.
Advice: Scott allowed a one-out single to Salvador Perez in the ninth but went on to retire the next two batters he faced. The veteran lefty now has 10 saves on the season and lowered his ERA to 1.59 on the season. Scott has converted on 10 of his 12 save opportunities, but saves have been hard to come by for the 28-win Marlins. RotoworldTuesday, 7:52 pm
Josh Smith went 1-for-3 with an RBI in Tuesday’s loss to the Brewers.
Advice: Smith singled off Hoby Milner in the first inning to score Corey Seager from second, giving the Rangers an early 1-0 lead and their only run of the game. Smith was responsible for just one of five hits the Rangers had on the night, but the young third baseman has turned in a solid June, going 22-for-61 (.361) at the plate with eight extra-base hits and 10 RBI. David Hamilton is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Blue Jays.
Advice: Hamilton has been playing through a lingering side issue of late and will take a seat on Tuesday night at Fenway Park with veteran righty Kevin Gausman on the mound for Toronto. The 26-year-old speedster figures to make an appearance off the bench at some point in the contest. It’ll be Enmanuel Valdez taking a turn at the keystone to open the game. RotoworldTuesday, 1:26 pm
