    • Fighting slump
Seager went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Friday's 7-1 loss to Kansas City.

Advice: Seager delivered the Rangers' lone run with a single in the third inning. He's been mired in a slump and entered Friday's game batting .073 (3-for-41) with two RBI over the previous 11 games. Rangers general manager Chris Young took the long view when speaking with Kenndi Landry of MLB.com, indicating the club expected Seager to need some time to get going after undergoing hernia surgery in January. Young also feels there has been some bad luck, which speaks to the shortstop's .269 BABIP. Rotowire.com Saturday, 6:57 am

    • Seager drives in run, but Rangers routed by KC
Corey Seager went 2-for-4 with an RBI in a loss to the Royals on Friday.

Advice: Seager drove in the first — and only — run of the night with an RBI single off Brady Singer in the third. Seager has not gotten off to a strong start to the 2024 campaign, as the pair of knocks still has his average at a disappointing .229 with an equally disappointing .297 slugging percentage. • Increasing baseball activities
Edman (wrist) is slated to take full swings off a tee Saturday, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Edman recently progressed to hitting from both sides of the dish after initially being limited to the right side as he recovers from right wrist surgery. He was also seen tracking flyballs during batting practice Friday, per John Denton of MLB.com. Edman still appears far away from a rehab assignment, but the 29-year-old is steadily progressing. • Cardinals taking things slow with Tommy Edman
Cardinals’ manager Oli Marmol said Friday that the team continues to proceed cautiously with Tommy Edman (wrist).

Advice: The 28-year-old has been hitting off of a tee from both sides of the plate, but Marmol noted that his progression will continue to be slower than most injured players’ by design. He also said that a minor league rehab assignment is not imminent. Expect the Cardinals to continue to build him up slowly with no clear timetable on when he could be ready to make his 2024 season debut. Rotoworld Friday, 2:52 pm

    • Notches fourth homer
Cabrera went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and a stolen base during Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Orioles.

Advice: Cabrera tagged Corbin Burnes for a two-run shot in the fifth inning, plating Jose Trevino for the Yankees' only runs. The long ball was Cabrera's first since April 13. His two hits were his first of the series, entering Wednesday's contest 0-for-7 in the first two games of the four-game bill. Through 110 plate appearances, Cabrera is slashing .262/.300/.417 with 18 RBI and two stolen bases. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:58 pm

    • Oswaldo Cabrera powers Yankees past Orioles
Oswaldo Cabrera swatted a two-run homer off of Corbin Burnes on Wednesday night, powering the Yankees to a 2-0 victory over the Orioles in Baltimore.

Advice: Cabrera accounted for the only scoring for either team in the ballgame, poking a 352-foot (103.3 mph EV) two-out, two-run homer just over the wall in right field and just inside the foul pole to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead in the fifth inning. He also singled in the ballgame and swiped a base, finishing the night 2-for-3. On the season, the versatile 25-year-old is now hitting .262/.300/.417 with four homers, 18 RBI and a pair of stolen bases. Rotoworld Wednesday, 6:09 pm

    • Tee work from both sides of plate
Edman (wrist) took swings off a tee from both sides of the plate last week, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Advice: Edman had been limited to hitting only from the right side due to lingering concerns about his surgically repaired right wrist. However, he's now progressed to hitting from both sides of the dish and has done so without any soreness. Edman will continue a hitting progression as tolerated and appears far off from a return, but he's progressing. Rotowire.com Monday, 3:18 pm

    • Swats second homer
Seager went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 8-4 loss to the Reds.

Advice: Seager, who was not in the original starting lineup for Saturday's game, was a late addition. The home run was his second of the season. Seager's off to a slow start, slashing .247/.336/.330 over 110 plate appearances, which is perhaps disappointing from a player that finished second in AL MVP voting last season. However, it's also understandable when considering Seager underwent offseason hernia surgery and missed all but the final week of spring training. Rotowire.com Apr 28, 7:03 am

    • Corey Seager swats second homer on Saturday
Corey Seager went 1-for-4 with a solo homer on Saturday against the Reds.

Advice: Seager was originally scheduled to get the day off on Saturday, but was a late addition to the lineup. On his 30th birthday, he swatted a solo homer in the ninth inning, his second of the season. Seager has been off to a relatively cold start, hitting .247/.336/.330 with the two homers, 12 runs scored, and seven RBI across 110 plate appearances. Rotoworld Apr 27, 3:57 pm
