    • Adames blasts eighth home run Monday
Willy Adames went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run against the Cubs on Monday.

Advice: Adames came to the plate with two men on and one out in a 1-0 game in the eighth inning. He blasted a Hayden Wesneski offering to center for a no-doubt home run. The home run was Adames’ eighth of the season and he already has a career-high eight stolen bases.

    • Astros place Cristian Javier on IL due to forearm
Astros placed RHP Cristian Javier on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 24, due to right forearm discomfort.

Advice: The Astros don’t seem to think Javier’s problem is significant, but we’ll see. He’ll definitely miss two starts now. The Astros could bring up Eric Lauer to step in if they want to stick with a six-man rotation, but that’s not the immediate plan; they’re going with Hunter Brown, Justin Verlander and Spencer Arrighetti from Tuesday through Thursday. Tuesday would have been Javier’s day to pitch. Rotoworld Monday, 2:59 pm

    • Goes on IL for right forearm
The Astros placed Javier on the 15-day injured list Monday, retroactive to May 24, due to right forearm discomfort.

Advice: Javier was scheduled for a bullpen session Sunday, but he was pulled after experiencing discomfort in his right forearm. He'll be sent for imaging Tuesday to determine the extent of the injury, per Brian McTaggart of MLB.com. With Javier on the IL, Hunter Brown will start Tuesday against the Mariners, while Justin Verlander and Spencer Arrighetti take the mound Wednesday and Thursday, respectively, per Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle. The Astros recalled right-hander Alex Speas from Triple-A Sugar Land in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Monday, 2:56 pm

    • Three hits in Sunday's win
Kelenic went 3-for-4 with a double and three runs scored in Sunday's win over the Pirates.

Advice: The 24-year-old outfielder started the day on the bench with southpaw Martin Perez pitching for Pittsburgh, but he was pressed into duty when Ronald Acuna (knee) went down and scored multiple runs in a game for the first time in 2024. Kelenic has only five plate appearances against lefties so far this year, and his third-inning single off Perez was his first hit against one, but with Acuna now lost for the season, Atlanta may not be able to limit Kelenic to a strict platoon role. • Plays catch
Eflin (back) was able to play catch Sunday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Eflin was placed on the injured list with an effective date of May 19. He was projected to miss two-to-four weeks when first diagnosed, so he'll need to make significant progress quickly to hit the lower range of that timeline. Rotowire.com Monday, 12:13 am

    • Dealing with forearm discomfort
Javier is dealing with forearm discomfort and didn't throw his scheduled bullpen session Sunday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: Manager Joe Espada said Javier is day-to-day, but the right-hander would appear to be at significant risk of missing his next turn through the rotation Tuesday in Seattle. Chandler Rome of The Athletic speculates Hunter Brown could start Tuesday on four days' rest, with Eric Lauer a possibility to be called up from Triple-A Sugar Land to fill Javier's turn in the rotation Wednesday. • Jake Burger leads Marlins past Diamondbacks
Jake Burger smacked a two-run single in the seventh inning on Saturday, helping to lead the Marlins to a 3-1 victory over the Diamondbacks in Arizona.

Advice: The two sides entered the seventh inning embattled in a scoreless tie, until Bryan De La Cruz plated a run with a fielder’s choice. Burger then followed with a two-run knock off of Kevin Ginkel that extended the Marlins’ lead to 3-0. That would prove to be more than enough for Ryan Weathers and company in this one. The 28-year-old slugger finished the afternoon 1-for-4 plus a walk and is now hitting .195/.234/.320 with four homers and 19 RBI on the season. Rotoworld Sunday, 3:51 pm

    • Cristian Javier (forearm) considered day-to-day
Cristian Javier did not throw his scheduled bullpen session on Sunday due to discomfort in his forearm.

Advice: The 27-year-old right-hander is being considered day-to-day, but that has to put Tuesday’s start against the Mariners in Seattle in jeopardy. Look for the Astros to provide more information on his status prior to Monday’s contest. Fantasy managers should be sure to have a contingency plan in place in the event that Javier is unable to go. • Jarred Kelenic with three hits off the bench
Jarred Kelenic went 3-for-4 with a double and three runs scored off the bench on Sunday in a win over the Pirates.

Advice: Kelenic came in for the injured Ronald Acuña Jr. on Sunday and delivered three hits on three hard-hit balls in the middle of multiple Braves’ rallies. Logic would tell us he has the most to gain from a serious injury to Acuña, but Atlanta has been unwilling to give him playing time against left-handed pitching. He did manage an infield single in this one off Martín Pérez, but has three strikeouts in his four other at-bats off lefties so far this season. Rotoworld Sunday, 1:30 pm
