    • Slated for rehab assignment
Astros manager Joe Espada said Thursday that Javier (neck) will begin a rehab assignment over the weekend, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Espada didn't specify exactly when Javier's first rehab appearance will be, nor did he say how long the 27-year-old right-hander will remain in the minors. However, there had been speculation that Javier would be able to avoid a rehab assignment completely, so he may only need to make one start before returning to an Astros rotation that has already dealt with numerous injuries this season. • Cristian Javier to make rehab start this weekend
Cristian Javier (neck) will begin a minor league rehab assignment this weekend.

Advice: It’s an extremely encouraging development for Houston’s injury-plagued rotation as Javier appears close to returning after landing on the injured list back on April 21 with neck discomfort. The 27-year-old righty might be ready to return after just one rehab outing, but nothing official yet. Rotoworld Thursday, 2:03 pm

    • Sitting versus lefty
Mullins is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Yankees.

Advice: The Yankees are going with southpaw Carlos Rodon as their starting pitcher, so the Orioles have elected to give the left-handed-hitting Mullins a day off. Ryan McKenna will in for Mullins as Baltimore's starter in center field. Rotowire.com Thursday, 8:10 am
    • Cleared to start Saturday
Glasnow (hand) is scheduled to start Saturday's game against Atlanta at Dodger Stadium, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

Advice: Glasnow experienced hand cramps in his most recent start April 27, but he'll be ready to go on six days' rest in a series featuring two of the National League's top teams. The right-hander has gotten off to an excellent start to his tenure with the Dodgers, going 5-1 with a 2.72 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 53:12 K:BB across 43 innings through seven outings. • Getting MRI on knee
Buxton will receive an MRI on his right knee after being removed from Wednesday's 10-5 win over the White Sox, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Advice: Buxton hurt his knee while attempting to steal a base during the second inning of Wednesday's victory. The Twins didn't have an update on his status immediately after the game, but manager Rocco Baldelli said Buxton would receive an MRI, adding that the team would use its day off Thursday to assess the situation. A clearer picture regarding the 30-year-old's return timeline will likely become available prior to Friday's game against Boston. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 3:05 pm

    • Byron Buxton (knee) will undergo MRI
Byron Buxton will undergo an MRI exam on his injured right knee after leaving Wednesday’s game against the White Sox.

Advice: Buxton pulled up on a stolen base attempt during the game and had to be helped off the field. It looks likely that the oft-injured outfielder is heading to the injured list once again, but the Twins will wait and see what the imaging shows before addressing the situation publicly. • Zach Eflin gives up three runs in defeat
Zach Eflin dropped to 1-4 after giving up three runs in 5 2/3 innings Wednesday against the Brewers.

Advice: Eflin struck out six and walked none. The big blow was a William Contreras two-run double on a pitch a good four inches inside with two outs in the second. Another batter likely would have fouled that one off, but Contreras is just too good. Fortunately, Eflin won’t face anyone like him with the White Sox coming to town next week. • Willy Adames hits two homers versus former club
Willy Adames hit a pair of homers to drive in four runs against his former team in a win over the Rays on Wednesday.

Advice: Adames has three homers and eight RBI the last two days. It looked like he might bat lower in the order than usual this year, and he did hit fifth against the Mets on Opening Day. However, he’s hit fourth or higher every game since, and he’s now up to 21 RBI in 30 games for the season. Rotoworld Wednesday, 1:49 pm

    • Falls to Milwaukee
Eflin (1-4) took the loss Wednesday against the Brewers, allowing three runs on six hits over 5.2 innings. He struck out six.

Advice: Eflin allowed a two-run double to William Contreras in the third inning before allowing a solo homer to Willy Adames in the sixth. The 30-year-old Eflin has now been stuck with a loss in consecutive starts -- he's allowed seven earned runs over 11.2 innings in that span. Eflin's ERA is now up to 4.17 with a 1.17 WHIP and 36:4 K:BB in seven starts this year. He'll look to get back on track in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week against the White Sox.
