    • Mason Miller records four-out save vs. Yankees
Mason Miller recorded a four-out save on Thursday against the Yankees.

Advice: Miller might be the most electrifying pitcher in baseball at the moment. Athletics manager Mark Kotsay handed him the ball for a four-out save opportunity at Yankee Stadium and he immediately responded by striking out Jose Trevino on a 101 mph fastball to end the eighth inning. He came back out to protect a two-run lead in the final frame and recorded two additional strikeouts to successfully work around a one-out infield single from Anthony Volpe. The hard-throwing 25-year-old former top pitching prospect has converted all six of his save opportunities this season to go along with a microscopic 1.59 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 23/4 K/BB ratio across 11 1/3 innings (nine appearances). • Trea Turner has three hits in win
Trea Turner went 3-for-5 with a double in a win over the Reds on Thursday.

Advice: Turner hit the ball well on Thursday, with five batted balls that were at least 96.7 mph. It continues a strong start to the season for the shortstop, who’s slashing .336/.388/.477 on the year with two home runs and six steals. As Bryce Harper continues to heat up, he should rack up far more runs scored as well. Rotoworld Today, 2:14 pm

    • Justin Verlander fires 4 1/3 scoreless vs. Cubs
Justin Verlander didn’t give up a run over 4 1/3 innings with seven strikeouts in a no-decision against the Cubs on Thursday.

Advice: Verlander allowed just three hits, but the seven punchouts along with four walks worked the pitch count up enough for him to not qualify for a decision. The right-hander gave up just one extra-base hit — a double by Nico Hoerner — and while he did have some control issues, the stuff looked solid in his second start of 2024. Verlander is back on the bump next week against the Guardians. Rotoworld Today, 2:09 pm
    • Goes four-plus in rehab start
Buehler (elbow) was charged with five runs (three earned) over four-plus innings in a rehab start with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday.

Advice: He permitted seven hits, walked two and struck out five. The line for Buehler wasn't pretty, but keep in mind that the game was pitched at high altitude at Albuquerque, so the results were mostly secondary. Buehler got his pitch count up to 86 and averaged 94.1 mph with his four-seamer, which is down 1.1 mph from what he averaged during the 2022 season prior to Tommy John surgery. It's possible this was Buehler's final rehab start, but that determination hasn't been made yet. He could potentially make his season debut as soon as Tuesday in Arizona. • Gets Thursday off
Outman is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals.

Advice: With the Dodgers and Nationals concluding their series with a day game after a night game and with southpaw MacKenzie Gore on the bump for Washington, Outman is one of three lefty-hitting regulars who will get the afternoon off. Outman will be joined on the bench by Gavin Lux and Max Muncy. Rotowire.com Today, 10:58 am

    • Not starting Thursday
Machado (personal) is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rockies.

Advice: Since Machado has already spent the maximum three days on the paternity list, he needs to be activated Thursday, but the Padres have yet to officially announce the move. Even if the Padres add Machado back to the 26-man roster Thursday, he'll still be available only as a bench player before likely making his return to the lineup against the Phillies this weekend, when the team returns to San Diego. Jurickson Profar will serve as the Friars' designated hitter Thursday. Rotowire.com Today, 10:42 am

    • Picks up save No. 9
Suarez earned a save against the Rockies on Wednesday, striking out one batter in a perfect inning.

Advice: Suarez needed just seven pitches (five of which were strikes) to set the Rockies down in order and preserve a three-run San Diego victory. The right-hander extended his streak of scoreless outings to nine and lowered his sterling ERA to 0.77. Suarez has been one of the league's best closers so far this season with nine saves (tied for first in MLB). Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:43 pm
    • Robert Suarez locks down ninth save vs. Rockies
Robert Suarez struck out one batter in a perfect ninth inning to secure the save against the Rockies.

Advice: Suarez was given a three-run lead to protect in the ninth inning. He worked quickly, striking out one batter and closing it out on seven pitches for his league-leading ninth save of the season. The 33-year-old right-hander holds a 0.77 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and a 10/4 K/BB ratio across 11 2/3 innings. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:10 pm
    • Breaks home run drought
Springer went 2-for-4 with a solo home run during Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Royals.

Advice: After going yard in back-to-back games to open up 2024, Springer had been chasing his third home run for 21 games. He finally snapped the streak Wednesday, tagging Angel Zerpa for a solo homer in the fifth inning. The outfielder is slashing .232/.324/.358 with five RBI and 11 runs scored in 108 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:06 pm
