    • Pirates option Ryder Ryan to Indianapolis
Pirates optioned RHP Ryder Ryan to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Advice: The move clears room on the active roster for Ji-Hwan Bae. Ryan has posted a 14/7 K/BB and 3.46 ERA in 13 MLB innings in 2024, and he should be back at some point this summer. Rotoworld 35 minutes ago

    • Loses roster spot
The Pirates optioned Ryan to Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday.

Advice: Ryan has mostly been effective, holding a 3.46 ERA and 14:7 K:BB over 13 innings. He has been a bit wild lately, though, including in his last appearance when he walked a pair and allowed a run without recording an out. Ji Hwan Bae will absorb his roster spot. • Returns to mound
Pressly threw a scoreless inning without allowing a baserunner and striking out one Monday against the Angels.

Advice: Pressly was out for the team's weekend series with finger soreness, but he showed no ill effects in his return. He entered the game in the eighth inning with the Astros down three, presumably because the team wanted to get him some work after the layoff. Pressly has struggled a bit of late, allowing an earned run in half of his last four appearances. He has a 5.19 ERA on the season. Rotowire.com Today, 8:22 am

    • Atlanta adds Daysbel Hernandez from Triple-A
Atlanta recalled RHP Daysbel Hernandez from Triple-A Gwinnett.

Advice: Hernandez, 27, was pitching well for Gwinnett with a 1.65 ERA and 22/9 K/BB over 12 appearances and 16 1/3 innings. He’ll take the roster spot of Ray Kerr, with Kerr heading to Triple-A in the corresponding transaction. Rotoworld Today, 7:33 am
    • Could be back this weekend
Francis (forearm) will throw about 45 pitches for Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday in what's expected to be his final rehab appearance, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Advice: The 28-year-old right-hander has looked sharp in his first two rehab outings, throwing 4.1 scoreless innings while allowing just two hits with a 5:1 K:BB. Francis began the season in the Blue Jays' rotation, but he should fill a long relief role in the big-league bullpen when he returns. Rotowire.com Today, 6:46 am

    • One more rehab appearance on tap
Green (shoulder) threw one inning for Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday and is expected to make another rehab appearance Wednesday, setting him up to potentially join the Blue Jays bullpen this weekend, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Advice: The right-hander breezed through his scoreless frame on only nine pitches Sunday, striking out one batter. Green had a strong start to the season before suffering a shoulder strain in mid-April, recording a win, two saves and two holds in seven appearances with a 2.35 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 7:2 K:BB in 7.2 innings. He should immediately slot back into a high-leverage role upon activation, but Green's save chances will be limited with Jordan Romano back in the ninth inning after beginning the year on the IL. • Sent back to minors
The Athletics optioned Ferguson to Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday.

Advice: Ferguson was unscored upon in his first five appearances with the A's but then allowed four runs in his last outing on Sunday to earn a trip back to the minors. Oakland will announce a corresponding move prior to Tuesday's game versus the Rockies. Rotowire.com Today, 6:30 am

    • Tagged with loss in matinee
Jimenez (1-1) blew his first save of the season and took the loss in the first game of Monday's doubleheader against the Padres, coughing up four runs on three hits and two walks in one inning. He failed to strike out a batter.

Advice: The right-hander entered a 5-2 game in the top of the eighth inning and immediately issued a four-pitch walk to Ha-Seong Kim, setting the stage for a rare disastrous outing. Jimenez has only been charged with runs in three of his 18 appearances this season, posting a 3.50 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 18:7 K:BB over 18 innings with nine holds and a win as one of Atlanta's most reliable setup men. • In line for start Wednesday
Martinez is listed as the Reds' probable starter for Wednesday's game against the Padres in Cincinnati.

Advice: After Nick Lodolo (groin) went on the injured list, Martinez stepped into the vacant rotation spot last week in Los Angeles. He was deployed in bulk relief behind opener Brent Suter in last Thursday's 7-2 win, tossing five shutout innings while allowing one hit and no walks. Barring a late change of plans from manager David Bell, Martinez looks poised to operate as a traditional starter Wednesday, and he should have a higher innings ceiling as a result.
