      Emmanuel Clase tossed a perfect ninth inning on Monday against the Mets to record his league-leading 14th save of the season.

      Advice: Clase was summoned to protect a two-run lead in the final frame and needed just 12 pitches (seven strikes) to end the contest. The 26-year-old elite stopper has converted a major league-leading 14 of 17 save opportunities to go along with a microscopic 0.37 ERA, 0.58 WHIP and 24/2 K/BB ratio across 24 1/3 innings (25 appearances).       Manny Machado doubled twice and drove in two runs as the Padres edged the Braves 6-5 in the first game of Monday’s doubleheader

      Advice: The two-run hit came in a four-run eighth inning rally that proved decisive. The previous double was Machado’s first extra-base hit since May 4. He also had his first multi-RBI game since that date. We were hoping his numbers would get better as his shoulder got further removed from surgery, but his current .639 OPS is 100 points lower than his mark from a month ago.       Advice: Altuve led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run, his eighth of the season and first since April 28. He's hit a moderate slump in May, as he's hitting .243 with six RBI and nine runs scored across 17 games, though he has chipped in three stolen bases. Altuve has maintained a .854 OPS across the first 207 plate appearances of the campaign, so there's little reason for concern about his slightly slower stretch of production.       Clase (3-1) allowed an unearned run and struck out one batter in one inning of work Sunday against the Twins. He was charged with a blown save but earned the win.

      Advice: Clase gave up the game-tying run on an error in the ninth inning, but Cleveland walked it off in the bottom half of the frame. It was his first blown save since April 16, and he's now 13 for 16 in save chances this season.
