    • Nearing game action
Robert (hip) is still awaiting his first action at the team's complex in Glendale, Ariz., Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. "We anticipate some game action later this week,'' general manager Chris Getz said. "He seems to have turned the corner and is trending well."

Advice: There was some hope that Robert would get into games in Arizona last week, but the White Sox decided not to push it. Robert missed more than three months with a similar injury in 2021, so it makes sense that the organization would take a cautious approach. While he remains without a definitive timetable to return to the majors, Robert seems to be progressing well, though at a deliberate pace. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:35 am

    • Chisholm blasts sixth home run
Jazz Chisholm went 3-for-5 with three runs scored, three RBI and a home run against the Mets.

Advice: Chisholm’s home run was his sixth of the year. Despite coming into this season in better shape, he hasn’t seen a significant uptick in his production. Chisholm has stayed healthy, which has been a problem for him in the past, but his numbers are fairly similar to last season’s pace across the board.

    • Getting rare day off
Betts isn't in the Dodgers' lineup for Saturday's game against the Reds.

Advice: After starting 47 consecutive games and posting an incredible .341/.440/.562 slash line to begin the year, Betts will step out of the lineup for the first time all season. Miguel Rojas will instead start at shortstop while batting ninth. Rotowire.com Saturday, 1:12 pm

    • Belts another leadoff homer
Betts went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and two total runs scored in Friday's 7-3 win over the Reds.

Advice: Betts' last two homers have been of the leadoff variety, and they're his only two long balls in May. He's hitting .283 this month, dropping his season-long batting average to a still-stunning .341 through 47 contests. Betts has added eight homers, 29 RBI, 40 runs scored, eight stolen bases, 11 doubles and three triples over 218 plate appearances while serving as the everyday leadoff hitter. • Yordan Alvarez getting a night off on Friday
Yordan Alvarez is not in the Astros’ starting lineup for Friday night’s matchup against the Brewers.

Advice: It’s a rare and well-deserved night off for the 26-year-old slugger, who will still probably appear off the bench in a critical spot on Friday night. Yainer Diaz will function as the team’s designated hitter and will bat fifth against Brewers’ right-hander Freddy Peralta. Rotoworld Friday, 2:46 pm

    • Receiving rest day
Alvarez is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Brewers, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: Alvarez has a .646 OPS through 15 games in May and went 1-for-11 with five strikeouts over the past three contests. He'll sit after starting the first 44 games of the campaign. Yainer Diaz will serve as the designated hitter Friday while Victor Caratini starts behind the plate. Rotowire.com Friday, 1:42 pm

    • Five-game hitting streak
Alvarez went 2-for-3 with a walk Monday against the Athletics.

Advice: Alvarez extended his hitting streak to five games with the performance, which was his fourth multi-hit performance in that span. He's also scored four runs and driven in another two during the sample. The strong stretch has also brought his batting average up to .264 across 180 plate appearances on the season, and that mark should continue to rise as the campaign progresses. • Smacks leadoff homer
Betts went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Monday's 6-4 extra-inning win over the Giants.

Advice: Betts snapped a 26-game homer drought with his leadoff blast Monday. He was far from a slouch in that span, batting .337 with an .848 OPS during the power drought. For the season, Betts is up to a .341/.440/.553 slash line with seven homers, 28 RBI, 35 runs scored, eight stolen bases, 11 doubles and two triples over 200 plate appearances. While it has cost him some power, Betts is enjoying the best plate discipline of his career with a 15.0 percent walk rate and 9.0 percent strikeout rate. Rotowire.com Monday, 10:48 pm

    • Rehab games could come this week
White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said Monday that Robert (hip) could begin playing in games with the team's rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate later this week, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.

Advice: The White Sox are aiming for Robert to be able to run at 90 percent effort in the coming days. If that happens, Robert is expected to be cleared for Complex League games. The 26-year-old presumably would eventually move up to a higher-level affiliate to continue his rehab. Robert has been out since early April with a Grade 2 right hip flexor strain but should return from the 10-day injured list before the end of the month if all goes well. Rotowire.com Monday, 2:47 pm
