      Advice: With Marco Luciano (hamstring) landing on the injured list Friday, Schmitt has a chance to make shortstop his own in June. This was Schmitt's second game in a row in the lineup -- he started versus right-hander Cody Poteet on Saturday and stayed in the starting nine versus southpaw Nestor Cortes on Sunday. Through eight games this season, Schmitt has two homers, five RBI and two runs scored over 30 plate appearances. Brett Wisely has also been an option at shortstop lately, and both Schmitt and Wisely offer utility upside if the Giants opt to get creative with their lineup decisions. He played a more noticeable role Sunday with a two-run single to tie the game at 4-4 in the fifth inning. Those RBI were his first since May 21.       Jones (undisclosed) returned from the 7-day injured list Saturday and started in center field in Triple-A Albuquerque's 10-9 win over Oklahoma City, going 1-for-3 with a solo home run, two walks, two stolen bases and an additional run.

      Advice: Jones hadn't played for Albuquerque since April 21 due to the unspecified injury, but he picked up right where he left off in his return to action for the Triple-A club. Through 80 plate appearances on the season, Jones is slashing .254/.375/.418 with a pair of home runs and 14 stolen bases.     • Bryson Stott swipes two bases in loss to Cards
      Bryson Stott drove in a pair of runs and swiped two bases as the Phillies fell to the Cardinals in 10 innings on Sunday night.

      Advice: Stott drew a walk off of Lance Lynn in the opening inning and swiped second base, but the Phillies were unable to cash him in. He then tied the game up and chased Lynn with a two-run single in the fifth inning. Stott then deftly nabbed second base again, but the Phillies once again couldn’t score him.       Triple-A Charlotte placed Shewmake on its 7-day injured list Sunday due to an unspecified injury.

      Advice: After receiving limited playing time with the White Sox, Shewmake was optioned to Charlotte on May 17 and had settled into an everyday role with the Triple-A club. However, he went just 4-for-33 (.121 average) at the dish over nine games with Charlotte before suffering an apparent injury Saturday and landing on the IL a day later.
