    Advice: Canning picked up his second quality start in a row, but he's lost both of those starts due to a lack of run support. The right-hander has allowed four runs over his last 13 innings, though he hasn't exactly been dominant with a 6:3 K:BB in that span. He's now at a 4.65 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 47:26 K:BB through 69.2 innings over 13 starts. Canning is projected for a road start versus the Diamondbacks his next time out.     Gomber did not factor into the decision in Friday's 8-5 loss to St. Louis, allowing four runs on six hits and one walk over five innings. He struck out four.

    Advice: The former Cardinal Gomber was unsteady out the gate in his first outing at Busch Stadium since Aug. 18, 2022. The Colorado southpaw allowed three runs on four hits in the first inning and never recovered. Despite the four-run evening, Gomber has been surprisingly solid this year and now sports a 3.38 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 47:21 K:BB over 66.2 innings.   • Framber Valdez turns in complete game in 7-1 win
    Framber Valdez went the distance against the Angels tonight, striking out eight in the Astros’ 7-1 victory.

    Advice: This was the same team he gave up eight runs to on May 20. Valdez pitched a four-hitter in his seventh career complete game and first of 2024. He’s now 5-3 with a 3.53 ERA, and he’ll have a chance to keep it going against the Giants on Wednesday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:06 pm

    Griffin Canning surrendered three runs over 6 1/3 innings Friday in a loss to the Astros.

    Advice: Canning’s velocity has been creeping back up after some April struggles, but his 16% strikeout rate is still way down from his career mark of 25%. If he’s traded to a team that has a better idea about how to get the most from its pitchers, he could be interesting down the stretch this year. If’s not likely to happen for him in Anaheim.     Lynn did not factor into the decision in Friday's 8-5 win over the Rockies, allowing four runs on six hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out six.

    Advice: Lynn entered this start on a roll, tossing a 0.56 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 14:5 K:BB over 16 innings in his last three starts, but couldn't control a shaky Colorado lineup. This marks the fifth time the 37-year-old veteran has allowed four earned runs in an outing this year. His ERA now stands at 3.58 with a 1.38 WHIP in 65.1 innings.     Valdez tossed a complete game to earn the win Friday over the Angels, allowing one run on four hits and a walk while striking out eight over nine innings.

    Advice: The Astros' bullpen was fairly fresh, but Valdez took care of business himself in his seventh career complete game. The lone mistake on his line was a Kevin Pillar solo home run in the second inning. Valdez has quality starts in four of his last five outings, and his strong performance Friday lowered his ERA to 3.53 with a 1.15 WHIP and 50:18 K:BB over 63.2 innings through 10 starts this season.     Logan Webb pitched the Giants past the Rangers with seven innings of two-run ball on Friday.

    Advice: Webb’s peripherals aren’t up to par, but tonight will help.     Michael Lorenzen surrendered two runs in 4 1/3 innings versus the Giants on Friday.

    Advice: Lorenzen left down 2-0, but the Rangers let him off the hook in the bottom of fifth before going to lose 5-2. It’s the first time in 10 starts this year that Lorenzen has failed to complete five innings and just the second time he hasn’t gone six.     Bassitt allowed a run on four hits and two walks while striking out seven over eight innings in a no-decision versus the Athletics on Friday.

    Advice: Bassitt tamed one of his former teams, but reliever Chad Green gave up a walk-off hit in the ninth inning. In his longest outing of the year, Bassitt threw 71 of 102 pitches for strikes. He's limited opponents to one run or fewer in five of his 13 starts this season, pitching to a 3.80 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 70:28 K:BB through 73.1 innings.
