      Advice: Chapman's swing is rounding into form -- he's got a homer in three straight games, and he's hitting .405 (17-for-42) with six walks during an 11-game on-base streak. The third baseman's blast Thursday sparked the Giants' eighth-inning rally.       Ryan Mountcastle went 4-for-5 with a double and two runs scored against the White Sox on Thursday.



      Advice: Mountcastle scored on Jorge Mateo’s three-run home run in the fourth inning and on an Adley Rutschman home run in the sixth inning. The four hits marked a nice bounce back game for Mountcastle, who had been slumping. The Orioles have a deep group of hitters to choose from, but he should stay in the lineup as long as he continues to hit.

      Montas allowed four runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out three over six innings in a no-decision versus the Padres on Thursday.

      Advice: Montas has allowed 12 runs (11 earned) across 15.2 innings over his last three starts, though he's avoided taking a loss in any of those games. The Padres got to him early Thursday before he bounced back and finished strong. The right-hander is at a 4.61 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 28:16 K:BB over 41 innings across nine starts this season.       Advice: After Adolis Garcia led off the second inning with a home run, Wheeler held the Rangers off the board until Ezequiel Duran's two-out RBI single in the seventh. It's the sixth win in Wheeler's last seven starts -- he's pitched at least seven innings in back-to-back outings and three of his last four.     • Frankie Montas surrenders four runs vs. Padres
      Frankie Montas was charged with four runs in six innings in a no-decision against the Padres on Thursday.

      Advice: This could have gone a lot worse. Montas gave up all four runs in the first two innings, but he was effective enough to give Cincinnati — and fantasy managers — six innings despite allowing nine hits in the contest. The right-hander has been shaky at best for Cincinnati over the first third of the season with a 4.64 ERA over nine starts as evidence. He’ll try and lower that mark next week against the Cardinals.     • Zack Wheeler fires seven strong in win over Rangers
      Zack Wheeler held the Rangers to two runs over seven innings while picking up a win Thursday.

      Advice: Wheeler scattered five hits with two walks, and he struck out five. The blemishes on the scoreboard came on an Adolis Garcia homer in the second and an infield single by Ezekiel Duran in the seventh. Outside of that, it was another strong outing for the 33-year-old that sees him lower his ERA to 2.53 as he worked at least seven innings for the third time in four starts.     • Rays waiting on Josh Lowe (side) IL decision
      Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports the Rays will wait until Friday before making a decision whether Josh Lowe (side) will require a trip to the injured list.

      Advice: Topkin added that an injured list stint seems likely, but Tampa Bay wants to wait and see how he feels on Friday before making a final decision. Rays manager Kevin Cash delivered an ominous “not ideal” statement to reporters following Lowe’s early exit from Wednesday’s game against the Red Sox due to right side tightness. The 26-year-old five-category impact fantasy contributor dealt with a similar issue back in spring training and underwent an MRI on Thursday to determine the severity of the issue.     • Matt Chapman homers, drives in three in victory
      Matt Chapman hit a three-run homer Thursday to help the Giants to a win over the Pirates.

      Advice: Chapman remains hot, and his three-run blast off Hunter Stratton got San Francisco back in the game; turning a 6-2 deficit into a 6-5 game. The 31-year-old has homered eight times, and three of those blasts have come in his last three games.       Marte went 2-for-5 with a solo homer in Wednesday's win over the Dodgers.

      Advice: Marte singled in his first at-bat to extend his hitting streak to 23 games and later added a solo homer to lead off the eighth, giving the Diamondbacks a 5-0 lead.
