      Advice: The Phillies connected on five homers in the blowout win, and Schwarber’s came as the leadoff hitter in the first. The 31-year-old has hit seven homers on the season, and he’ll likely be among the homer leaders throughout the 2024 campaign.       Corbin Burnes wasn’t involved in the decision after allowing one run over six innings Friday against the Orioles.

      Advice: Burnes outdueled Ross Stripling and left with a one-run lead, but the A’s let Stripling off the hook for once by scoring a run in the ninth and then winning the game in 10.     • Craig Kimbrel walks three in blowing save
      Craig Kimbrel took his second blown save after walking three and giving up two hits in one-third of an inning versus the A’s on Friday.

      Advice: Incredibly, he allowed just one run during all this. His lone out came on a play at home plate, and after he exited, Keegan Akin was able to strand the bases loaded and send the game to extras. Kimbrel somehow went his first nine outings without walking a batter, but he’s issued five free passes and hit a batter in his last three appearances. This is just his second blown save and his first to cost the Orioles a game, so he’ll surely keep closing for now.       Kimbrel blew the save in Friday's loss to the A's, allowing a run on two hits and three walks in one-third of an inning.

      Advice: Kimbrel allowed all five batters he faced to reach base safely, with the lone out coming when JJ Bleday was thrown out at home trying to score on a wild pitch. While Kimbrel was lucky to escape with just one allowed, he was still charged with his second blown save of the year, the first since his first appearance of the season on April 1. Kimbrel hadn't allowed an earned run in 10 innings coming into Friday, striking out 15 in that span. It's the first quality start in three outings for the 29-year-old right-hander -- Burnes failed to make it through six innings in his previous two starts. The right-hander gave up three runs in the first inning alone and failed to make it through five frames for the first time this season.       Phillips earned a save against the Nationals on Thursday, striking out two batters in a perfect inning of work.

      Advice: Phillips didn't have any trouble protecting Los Angeles' one-run, ninth-inning lead, striking out the first two batters he faced before inducing a game-ending groundout. The right-hander has yielded just one earned run over 10.2 innings on the season, giving him a minuscule 0.84 ERA.       Advice: Neris converted on his third save of the last five days and appears to have a decent hold on the Cubs' closing job, replacing Adbert Alzolay. However, Neris's walk issues persisted Thursday, handing out two free passes to bring his season total to nine in nine innings.
