    • Mike Trout (knee) starts running on treadmill
Mike Trout (knee) has progressed to running on a treadmill.

Advice: Trout underwent surgery earlier this month to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee and remains without a definitive timetable to return to Los Angeles. He’s expected to resume baseball activities at some point in June. Rotoworld 31 minutes ago

    • Tuesday's start rained out
Jones and the Pirates will not play the Tigers on Tuesday due to inclement weather, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Advice: Tuesday's contest will be made up during a doubleheader Wednesday, and Jones will presumably pitch one of the two games. The 22-year-old right-hander owns a 3.05 ERA and 0.97 WHIP on the year, though he's allowed three earned runs in six innings during both of his last two outings. Rotowire.com Today, 3:10 pm
    • Throwing off mound
Scherzer (back/arm) will throw a "full" bullpen session Wednesday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: Scherzer will throw off a mound for the first time since being shut down in early May, an encouraging sign for the 38-year-old, who's rehabbing a nerve problem in his throwing arm and an offseason back surgery. Prior to the setback, Scherzer threw 52 pitches April 25 in a rehab start at Triple-A Round Rock. Rotowire.com Today, 1:57 pm

    • Max Scherzer (thumb) throwing bullpen Wednesday
Max Scherzer (thumb) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Wednesday.

Advice: There’s a bit of lingering uncertainty regarding Scherzer’s potential return timeline after he was abruptly pulled off a minor league rehab assignment earlier this month to address a nerve issue leading to issues with his right thumb. The hope is that the 39-year-old veteran righty will be ready for rehab starts at some point in June. There is no official timetable for his return at this juncture. Rotoworld Today, 1:55 pm

    • Generates team's only run
Chisholm went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and a stolen base in a loss to the Padres on Monday.

Advice: Chisholm notched two of Miami's four hits in the contest and produced the team's only run with a third-inning solo shot. The center fielder added a swipe of third base in the eighth inning to give him 10 thefts on the campaign. Chisholm is working on a six-game hitting streak during which he's gone 9-for-23 with three doubles, two homers, three RBI and four runs. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:24 pm
    • Chisholm Jr. homers, steals base Monday
Jazz Chisholm Jr. went 2-for-4 with a stolen base, a double, and a solo home run against the Padres on Monday.

Advice: The home run was Chisholm Jr.’s eighth and the stolen base was his 10th. He’s 27-for-95 (.284) in the month of May and his average is up to .265 on the season with a .792 OPS. Chisholm provided all of the offense for the Marlins as they lost to the Padres 2-1. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:26 pm
    • Leaves early with neck spasms
Bassitt (5-6) prematurely left Monday's game against the White Sox with neck spasms, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. He allowed five hits and zero walks while striking out seven over five scoreless innings, earning the win.

Advice: It was reported after the game that Bassitt was questionable to start due to the injury, but he toughed it out and pitched five dominant innings. It is encouraging that the 36-year-old was able to play through the injury, but the severity is still unknown. The right-hander will try to heal up for his next start, tentatively scheduled for this weekend versus Pittsburgh. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:59 pm

    • Tosses seven shutout in no-decision
Steele did not factor into the decision Monday against Milwaukee, allowing three hits and one walk over seven shutout innings. He struck out eight.

Advice: Steele posted his best start since returning from a hamstring injury May 6, generating 13 whiffs in 93 total pitches. The Cubs lefty limited a ferocious Brewers offense that entered with the fourth-best team wRC+ at 115, allowing Milwaukee to scatter only four singles. Steele's ERA is now 4.45 over total 32.1 innings with 31:7 K:BB. The 28-year-old is currently slated to face the Reds at home in his next start. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:33 pm
    • Steele tosses seven shutout innings in no-decision
Justin Steele threw seven shutout innings and got a no-decision against the Brewers on Monday.

Advice: Steele allowed three hits, a walk and struck out eight. He looked like the pitcher we saw last year who had a 3.06 ERA and 176 strikeouts. Steele lowered his ERA to 4.45, but there should still be room for growth as his xFIP is 3.71. The 28-year-old left-hander is set to face the Reds on the road this weekend.
