    • Strikes out 11 in win
Bradley (2-4) earned the win against the Cubs on Thursday, allowing two (unearned) runs on three hits and two walks with 11 strikeouts over seven innings.

Advice: Bradley was dominant other than the fifth inning, when the Cubs scored two unearned runs on back-to-back bunts. This was arguably the best start of Bradley's young career, as he registered 17 swinging strikes on 104 pitches and tied a career-high with 11 strikeouts. While Bradley has been up-and-down in 2024, Thursday's effort showed his immense potential when he has his best stuff. On the season, he owns a 4.23 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 50:12 K:BB in 38.1 innings and lines up to start next Wednesday against the Twins. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:54 pm
    • Taj Bradley strikes out 11 in victory over Cubs
Taj Bradley matched a career-high with 11 strikeouts and allowed two runs (zero earned) over seven innings on Thursday in a win over the Cubs.

Advice: Bradley gave up three hits, walked two over seven frames to pick up his second of the season through seven starts. His previous season-high for strikeouts was 10, but he also allowed five runs in that start. While Bradley’s ERA is 4.23 this year, his xFIP is significantly lower at 3.10. There should be more starts like this in his future. The 23-year-old right-hander is set to face the Twins on the road next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:13 pm
    • Pitching final sim game
Kershaw (shoulder) will throw a three-inning simulated game Thursday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: Kershaw most recently tossed a two-inning simulated game with the Dodgers' Single-A affiliate in Rancho Cucamonga on June 7, with reports suggesting that his fastball touched 90 miles per hour in the outing. He'll increase his workload in Thursday's simulated game, which will be his last before he begins what will likely be a multi-start minor-league rehab assignment, according to Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register. • Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) throws another sim game
Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) threw a three-inning simulated game on Thursday at Dodgers Stadium.

Advice: Kershaw, who is in the final stages of his rehabilitation from offseason shoulder surgery, appears poised to embark on a minor league rehab assignment at some point next week and could be ready to jump back into the Dodgers’ starting rotation following next month’s All-Star break. • Trea Turner (hamstring) running at 100 percent
Trea Turner (hamstring) progressed to running at 100 percent on Thursday.

Advice: Turner is trending towards making his long-awaited return to Philadelphia’s lineup at some point early next week. It sounds like the 30-year-old shortstop will skip a minor-league rehab assignment, but it wouldn’t be shocking to see him get in a couple at-bats over the weekend prior to returning. • Day off Thursday
Happ is not in the lineup for Thursday's game in Tampa Bay.

Advice: Happ has had a rough road trip, collecting just one hit. He'll rest for the final game of the trip as Mike Tauchman draws the start in left field for the Cubs. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:31 pm

    • Sitting Thursday
Bohm isn't in the Phillies' lineup for Thursday's game against Boston.

Advice: Bohm will get a breather Thursday after going 3-for-19 with two RBI in his last five games, allowing Whit Merrifield to start at the hot corner while batting seventh. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:06 pm

    • Bumped back to Friday
Castillo's next start has been pushed back a day to Friday against the Rangers, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Advice: The Mariners have just one off day over the next two weeks and one member of their rotation, Bryan Woo (forearm), who is banged up, so the team will use this as an opportunity to give their regular starters some rest. Emerson Hancock will draw the start Thursday versus the White Sox while everyone else gets bumped back. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:18 am
    • Makes history with walk-off homer
Merrill went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the A's.

Advice: The rookie center fielder took Hogan Harris deep in the fifth inning, setting the stage for Merrill to play hero by ripping a slider from Mason Miller down the right-field line in the bottom of the ninth for his first career walk-off homer. In the process, Merrill become the youngest player in Padres history with a walk-off blast, and the youngest player in MLB history with a two-homer game that included a walk-off shot. The 21-year-old snapped a 26-game homer drought with the performance, and he's been heating up in June, batting .355 (11-for-31) over the last eight contests with four doubles, two steals, four RBI and five runs.
