    • Montgomery goes seven strong in victory over Reds
Jordan Montgomery delivered a strong performance in Wednesday night’s victory over the Reds, allowing just two runs on seven hits over his seven frames.

Advice: The 31-year-old southpaw walked two and struck out two batters on the evening. The Reds pushed a run across in the second inning on a run-scoring single by Stuart Fairchild, then added another on an RBI double by Jeimer Candelario in the fourth. That was the extent of the damage. Montgomery got 10 swings and misses on 95 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 29 percent. Now 2-2 on the season, he’ll look to further improve upon his 4.70 ERA and 1.30 WHIP when he takes on these same Reds at home on Monday. Rotoworld Wednesday, 6:38 pm
    • Graham Ashcraft surrenders three runs in loss
Graham Ashcraft wasn’t at his best in Wednesday’s loss to the Diamondbacks, surrendering three runs on six hits over his five-plus innings of work.

Advice: The 26-year-old right-hander also issued three free passes while punching out a pair on the evening. The Diamondbacks scratched out a pair of runs against him in the third inning on an RBI double by Pavin Smith and a bases-loaded walk by Christian Walker. Ashcraft then started the sixth inning and allowed a pair of singles before exiting — and one of those runs came around to score. He got just five whiffs on 86 pitches on the night, posting a miserable CSW of only 15 percent. He’ll carry a 3.86 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and a 32/12 K/BB ratio (39 2/3 innings) into a rematch against the Diamondbacks in Arizona on Monday. Rotoworld Wednesday, 6:37 pm
    • Resting during Game 2
Nevin isn't in the Athletics' lineup for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Rangers.

Advice: Nevin went 0-for-4 with a strikeout during Game 1, and he'll step out of the lineup for the nightcap. His absence will move Brent Rooker into right field while Shea Langeliers serves as Oakland's DH, allowing Kyle McCann to start behind the plate. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 3:29 pm

    • Gavin Stone quiets Marlins to collect third win
Gavin Stone yielded one run over seven innings on Wednesday in a win over the Marlins.

Advice: Stone was excellent during Wednesday afternoon’s matinee at Dodger Stadium, limiting Miami’s floundering lineup to just a fourth-inning solo shot from Bryan De La Cruz over seven frames. He finished with four strikeouts and didn’t hand out a free pass. The 25-year-old former top pitching prospect has held his own this season in his first extended chance in the big leagues, compiling a respectable 3.55 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 27/13 K/BB ratio across 38 innings (seven starts). He’ll face the division-rival Giants on Tuesday his next time out. Rotoworld Wednesday, 2:32 pm

    • Robert Suarez notches 12th save on Wednesday
Robert Suarez fired a perfect ninth inning on Wednesday against the Cubs to notch his 12th save of the season.

Advice: Suarez got the call to guard a three-run lead in the final frame and needed just 11 pitches (seven strikes) to spin a flawless frame. The hard-throwing 33-year-old stopper has converted all 12 of his save opportunities this season to accompany a microscopic 0.55 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and 15/4 K/BB ratio across 16 1/3 innings (15 appearances). Simply put, he’s emerged as one of the best closers in baseball, which has made him one of the best values in offseason fantasy drafts. Rotoworld Wednesday, 2:17 pm

    • Dylan Cease hurls 12-strikeout gem versus Cubs
Dylan Cease recorded a season-high 12 strikeouts over seven shutout innings on Wednesday in a win over the Cubs.

Advice: Cease was simply magnificent during Wednesday afternoon’s matinee at Wrigley Field, inducing a surreal 24 swinging strikes, including 12 on his slider alone, and finished with an elite 39 percent CSW. He limited Chicago’s formidable offense to just three baserunners, one hit and a pair of walks, over seven nearly-flawless frames. His 12 strikeouts were just one shy of his previous career-high mark set back on June 26, 2022. The 28-year-old fantasy ace has been outstanding in his San Diego debut, allowing two earned runs or fewer in seven of his eight starts. He’ll bring a stellar 2.19 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 60/16 K/BB ratio across 49 1/3 innings (eight starts) into a tasty home matchup on Tuesday against the Rockies at Petco Park. Rotoworld Wednesday, 2:16 pm

    • Returns from IL
The Rays reinstated Bradley (pectoral) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday.

Advice: Bradley is slated to make his season debut Friday against the Yankees at Tropicana Field, but the Rays opted to activate the right-hander two days early after rotation mate Ryan Pepiot (lower leg) was placed on the 15-day IL in a corresponding move. The 23-year-old showed no sign of being affected by the pectoral strain he suffered in spring training over the course of his two rehab starts with Triple-A Durham, as he struck out 15 while allowing one earned run on two hits and three walks across 11 innings. Bradley built up to 94 pitches in his second outing with Durham last Friday and shouldn't face any workload restrictions in his first start with Tampa Bay. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 1:28 pm

    • Rays activate Taj Bradley, set to start on Friday
Rays activated RHP Taj Bradley from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: The 23-year-old hurler will make his highly-anticipated season debut on Friday against the Yankees. The 23-year-old hurler made a pair of minor league rehab starts at Triple-A Durham where he posted a minuscule 0.82 ERA, 0.46 WHIP and a 15/3 K/BB ratio across 11 innings of work. It’s a tough matchup against the Bombers, but fantasy managers shouldn’t shy away from using Bradley in that start. Rotoworld Wednesday, 1:09 pm

    • Cleared for rehab assignment
Gelof (oblique) will join Triple-A Las Vegas this weekend to begin a rehab assignment, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Gelof has missed the last two weeks with a strained left oblique but has been upping his baseball activities in recent days and was spotted running the bases earlier Wednesday, per Gallegos. Because the young infielder hasn't missed much time, he shouldn't need too many at-bats in the minors before being activated from the 10-day injured list. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 11:26 am
