    • TJ Friedl (hamstring) returns to action on Friday
TJ Friedl (hamstring) returned to the Reds’ starting lineup for Friday night’s series opener against the Red Sox.

Advice: Friedl had missed each of the team’s last two games due to tightness in his hamstring. The 28-year-old outfielder has struggled to stay on the field this season, managing to hit .214/.320/.381 with four homers, 15 RBI and six stolen bases in just 23 games in-between stints on the injured list. He’s starting in left field and batting leadoff for the Reds on Friday night against Kutter Crawford and the Red Sox. Rotoworld 34 minutes ago

    • Back in Cincinnati lineup
Friedl will start in center field and bat leadoff in Friday's game versus the Red Sox.

Advice: Friedl missed two games after his hamstring tightened up on him Monday, but he's ready to go now following the Reds' team off day Thursday. Although he's slashed just .214/.320/.381 so far in an injury-shortened season, Friedl does have four home runs and six stolen bases over 97 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 12:09 pm

    • Continues power surge Thursday
Merrill went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 7-6 win over Milwaukee on Thursday.

Advice: Merrill hit the second of back-to-back homers with Manny Machado in the first inning to give San Diego an early lead. The long ball was the second in as many days for Merrill, who has surged in the power department of late, with six of his nine homers on the campaign coming over his past eight games. All six of those long balls have been of the solo variety, but it's still a positive development for Merrill's fantasy managers after he went deep just three times over his first 68 games. • Blows save chance Thursday
Estrada (3-1) blew a save but was credited with the win in Thursday's victory versus the Brewers. He allowed two runs on two hits and one walk while striking out three batters over one inning.

Advice: Primary closer Robert Suarez had pitched on back-to-back days, so San Diego turned to Estrada with a two-run lead in the ninth inning, though the latter had taken the mound on consecutive days as well. Estrada couldn't close things out, giving up a pair of runs on a walk, a single, a wild pitch and a double. To his credit, the right-hander kept the game tied by striking out the final two batters he faced, and he ended up in the win column when Jake Cronenworth smacked a walk-off home run in the bottom of the frame. Though Estrada continues to rack up punchouts -- of his past 13 outs, 12 have come via strikeout -- he's been struggling of late, giving up eight runs on 10 hits and three walks over that span of five outings. • Slugs seventh homer
Machado went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run and a walk in Thursday's win over Milwaukee.

Advice: Machado jumped on a four-seamer from Bryse Wilson with two outs in the bottom of the first inning and sent it into the stands in right field to put San Diego up 3-1. The third baseman would also add a single, giving him his third multi-hit performance in his last four games. Machado is now up to seven homers on the season, though Thursday's long ball was only his second since May 3. Rotowire.com Today, 7:50 am

    • Four hits in win
Tatis went 4-for-5 with a solo homer and a second run scored in Thursday's win over the Brewers.

Advice: Tatis recorded hits in each of his first four trips to the plate, including a home run in the bottom of the fifth to extend San Diego's lead to 5-3. It was the star outfielder's 14th long ball on the campaign and his fifth this month, during which he's now batting .370 with seven RBI, two stolen bases and 13 runs scored. It also marked Tatis' second four-hit performance this season, both of which have come in June. Rotowire.com Today, 7:47 am
    • Hangs on for 25th save
Helsley picked up the save over the Giants on Thursday, allowing one hit and one walk over one inning while striking out two.

Advice: Helsley took over in the ninth to protect a one-run lead and proceeded to walk the leadoff man while also coughing up a single three batters later. However, the right-hander rebounded nicely, striking out Matt Chapman to stop the late rally and earn his league-leading 25th save of the season. Helsley has converted each of his last four save opportunities, though he's also issued at least one walk in three consecutive outings. Rotowire.com Today, 5:11 am

    • Jeremiah Estrada winds up with win after BS
Jeremiah Estrada took a blown save but ended up with a win after allowing two runs in the ninth Thursday against the Brewers.

Advice: In Estrada’s defense, he really should have Christian Yelich struck out to begin the ninth, which probably would have led to a scoreless frame. Instead, he allowed two runs after surrendering two runs on a walk to Yelich and two hits. It was quite curious that the Padres decided to use Estrada and avoid Robert Suarez tonight. Both had worked the previous two days, but Suarez threw fewer pitchers in those outings, had, unlike Estrada, gone four straight days without working previously and is the older of the two by eight years. If we were the Padres, we’d consider Estrada the more important reliever of the two going forward. Suarez, though, is in the second year of a five-year, $46 million contract. • Fernando Tatis Jr. goes 4-for-5, hits 14th homer
Fernando Tatis Jr. went 4-for-5 with a homer versus the Brewers in Thursday’s victory.

Advice: Tatis had the two hardest-hit balls in the game with his 112-mph homer and 111-mph single. It’s been a month since his last multi-RBI game on May 19, but that’s not really his fault. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:17 pm
