      Advice: Jonathan Heasley stayed in the game to start the ninth inning with the O's ahead 8-2 after getting the last out in the eighth, though he would quickly run into trouble after failing to retire the first four batters he faced in the final frame. He would be relieved by Yennier Cano, but Cano allowed three inherited runners to score while getting only one out, making it an 8-6 ballgame. That's when Kimbrel came in to save the day, needing just two pitches to record a bizarre double play as Andrew Vaughn was called out for runner's interference on an infield fly. The veteran reliever has converted all three of his save attempts this month after blowing back-to-back saves to close out April.       Advice: With the bases loaded and a five-run lead in the ninth inning, Orioles manager Brandon Hyde went to Yennier Cano for what was an unconventional save opportunity. Cano hit Andrew Vaughn and allowed a two run single to Gavin Sheets to make it a two-run game. After striking out Zach DeLoach, Cano was removed in favor of Kimbrel, who got Andrew Benintendi to pop into a double play.       Peralta (3-3) took the loss Wednesday against Miami, allowing one run on four hits and a walk across seven innings. He struck out seven.

      Advice: Peralta was locked into a pitcher's duel with Jesus Luzardo, with a leadoff home run by Jazz Chisholm in the first inning being enough to push Peralta into the loss column. Still, fantasy managers saw the dominant version of Peralta that garnered early Cy Young consideration before his ERA ballooned from 1.90 on April 19 to 4.17 before Wednesday's outing. Through the ups and downs, Peralta's strikeout production has maintained, with 71 K's across 56.2 innings on the year.       Advice: This was Polanco's first game action since he suffered the injury May 13 versus the Royals. The infielder is down to a .187/.291/.300 slash line with five home runs, 13 RBI, 15 runs scored and one stolen base over 172 plate appearances. While he has yet to get his bat going in his first season with the Mariners, he's likely to reclaim a starting role at second base.       Advice: All of the Yankees' runs came via the long ball Wednesday, and Verdugo's eighth-inning blast cut off the Mariners' hopes of a comeback. The veteran outfielder has gone 11-for-37 (.297) over his last nine contests, picking up at least one hit in eight of them while adding nine RBI and five doubles. He's slashing .254/.325/.422 with six homers, 26 RBI, 23 runs scored and a stolen base over 197 plate appearances this season. Verdugo won't get the accolades of fellow outfielders Juan Soto and Aaron Judge, but he's been a strong and steady presence as the Yankees' starting left fielder this season.       Brown (1-5) took the loss Wednesday, giving up two runs on two hits and three walks over six innings in a 2-1 loss to the Angels. He struck out three.

      Advice: The right-hander put together arguably his best start of the season and made only one real mistake, but a fifth-inning sinker got too much of the plate and Kyren Paris drove it out of the park to left-center field for a two-run homer. It was only Brown's second quality start of the year, and he's served up nine home runs in just 43.1 innings, fueling a 7.06 ERA. With Ronel Blanco (suspension) rejoining the rotation this weekend and Jose Urquidy (forearm) likely not far behind in his return, it's not clear when Brown might make his next trip to the mound.       Tanner Scott worked a scoreless ninth inning on Wednesday against the Brewers. He allowed one hit and struck out one.

      Advice: It’s comforting to see Scott get through an inning without walking a batter and this marked three out of four appearances where he hasn’t walked any. He’s thrown at least 55% fastballs in each of those four outings and that might be his adjustment to push that walk rate down.
